2DescriptionCVE.org
Adminer 4.6.0 before 5.5.0 prepends the client-supplied X-Forwarded-Prefix header to $_SERVER["REQUEST_URI"] with no trusted-proxy check and no validation of the prefix value. An attacker can supply an absolute URL (e.g. X-Forwarded-Prefix: https://evil.example) that flows into Location redirect headers, the Set-Cookie path attribute, and self-referential links. This enables an authenticated open redirect after state-changing POSTs, unauthenticated control of the session cookie path attribute, and poisoning of self-referential links; CR/LF cannot be injected, so header splitting/XSS is not possible.
AnalysisAI
Adminer 4.6.0 through 5.4.x blindly prepends the client-supplied X-Forwarded-Prefix HTTP header to internally constructed URLs with no trusted-proxy allowlist or value sanitization, allowing attacker-controlled URL prefixes to propagate into Location redirect headers, Set-Cookie path attributes, and self-referential links. This yields an authenticated open redirect on state-changing POSTs and unauthenticated control of session cookie path scoping against default deployments in the affected version range. …

Vulnerability AssessmentAI
| Exploitation | The open redirect requires an authenticated Adminer user to perform a state-changing POST action (login submission, query execution, or similar) while the attacker is able to supply a crafted X-Forwarded-Prefix header - this typically requires a man-in-the-middle position between the client and Adminer, the ability to influence the request through a shared or misconfigured proxy, or an SSRF capability that triggers Adminer on the victim's behalf. … Additional conditions and limiting factors are described in the full assessment. |
| Risk Assessment | The CVSS 4.0 vector (AV:N/AC:L/AT:N/PR:N/UI:P, score 5.3) correctly captures the split nature of this vulnerability: network-reachable, low complexity, but requiring passive user interaction for the highest-impact path. … Full risk analysis with EPSS, KEV, and SSVC signal comparison available after sign-in. |
| Exploit Scenario | Full exploit scenario with step-by-step reproduction available after sign-in. |
| Remediation | Upgrade Adminer to version 5.5.0 or later, which introduces trusted-proxy validation and sanitization of the X-Forwarded-Prefix header; see the vendor advisory at https://github.com/vrana/adminer/security/advisories/GHSA-8478-xrj3-h9c2 for details. … Detailed patch versions, workarounds, and compensating controls in full report. |
