2DescriptionCVE.org
Adminer before 5.4.3 uses a CSRF token scheme that transmits both the XOR mask and the masked value in every token (format (rand XOR secret):rand), allowing anyone who observes a single CSRF token (e.g., via network sniffing, log files, Referrer header, or XSS) to recover the session secret with a single XOR operation and forge unlimited valid tokens. The implementation is further weakened by a low-entropy session token (rand(1,1e6), ~20 bits) that permits blind brute-force, and by use of loose comparison (==) in token verification, enabling PHP type juggling. Exploitation enables cross-site request forgery against authenticated sessions, including execution of arbitrary SQL queries.
AnalysisAI
Cryptographic failure in Adminer's CSRF token scheme before version 5.4.3 allows an attacker who observes any single valid token to recover the session secret with one XOR operation, then forge unlimited valid CSRF tokens indefinitely. The token format (rand XOR secret):rand transmits both XOR operands together, rendering the masking scheme arithmetically transparent; this flaw is compounded by approximately 20 bits of entropy in the underlying random value and PHP loose comparison in token verification. …

Vulnerability AssessmentAI
| Exploitation | The primary exploitation path requires that the attacker observe at least one valid CSRF token from any Adminer session; concrete mechanisms stated in the description include passive network sniffing (if Adminer is served over HTTP), HTTP Referrer header leakage (if Adminer pages link to external resources that receive the URL), server log file read access, or exploitation of a separate XSS vulnerability on the Adminer origin. … Additional conditions and limiting factors are described in the full assessment. |
| Risk Assessment | The CVSS 4.0 score of 6.1 with vector AV:N/AC:H/AT:P/PR:N/UI:P reflects the primary prerequisite accurately: an attacker must observe at least one valid CSRF token before forging begins. … Full risk analysis with EPSS, KEV, and SSVC signal comparison available after sign-in. |
| Exploit Scenario | Full exploit scenario with step-by-step reproduction available after sign-in. |
| Remediation | Upgrade to Adminer 5.4.3 or later; this is the definitive fix per the CVE description and the vendor GHSA advisory at https://github.com/vrana/adminer/security/advisories/GHSA-33j4-hc95-pggg. … Detailed patch versions, workarounds, and compensating controls in full report. |
