MITRE ATT&CK
2 techniques across 2 tactics: Command and Control, Persistence The technique list with ATT&CK links and the kill-chain view is part of the Basic plan and up. |
| Exploitation Conditions | Exploitation requires the WP ERP CRM module AND the IMAP Email Connect (inbound email sync) feature to be enabled and configured with a reachable mailbox - this is not a default WordPress or default-plugin state. The attacker must send an email whose References header is forged to match the plugin's expected pattern and whose attachment filename contains a path-traversal sequence (e.g. '../helper.php'). Successful remote code execution additionally requires the web server to be configured to execute PHP within wp-content/uploads/; on deployments that block PHP execution in uploads, the traversal write still succeeds but code execution does not. No authentication is required (PR:N) and no victim user interaction is needed; the limiting factors are the non-default feature enablement, the crafted References-header requirement, and the PHP-in-uploads execution condition. |
| Impact | The CVSS 3.1 vector CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:N/S:U/C:H/I:H/A:H scores 9.8 and describes a network-reachable, low-complexity, unauthenticated path with full confidentiality, integrity, and availability impact, which is consistent with the described attack: an attacker merely emails the site's configured inbound mailbox. Two factors meaningfully reduce real-world exposure below what the raw 9.8 suggests: exploitation requires the optional CRM module and IMAP Email Connect feature to be enabled and configured (a non-default deployment), and it further requires the host to execute PHP from wp-content/uploads/, which hardened configurations block. No EPSS score, KEV listing, or public POC is present in the provided data, so there is no evidence of active exploitation or automated weaponization at this time; the 9.8 is a capability score, not an in-the-wild signal. Any operator running the CRM email-ingestion feature should nonetheless treat this as urgent, because the attack is unauthenticated and requires no user interaction once the feature is live. Note a caveat: the CVSS 'attack complexity: low' rating arguably understates the requirement to forge a References header matching the plugin's expected pattern, which is a minor prerequisite an attacker must satisfy. |
| Exploit ScenarioDerived | An attacker sends a crafted email to the site's configured inbound CRM mailbox, setting a forged References header that matches the plugin's expected pattern and attaching a file named '../helper.php' containing PHP code. The next cron-based IMAP sync job invokes save_attachments(), which writes the payload into wp-content/uploads/ instead of the protected crm-attachments directory; on a server that executes PHP from uploads, the attacker then requests the file to run arbitrary code. No public POC is identified at this time, and the network attack vector with low complexity makes the scenario straightforward once the feature is enabled. |

Alert meAnalysisAIv1 – Aug 26, 2026
Unrestricted file upload in the wedevs WP ERP plugin (ERP: Complete HR, Accounting & CRM Suite for WooCommerce) for WordPress, in all versions through 1.17.8, allows unauthenticated attackers to write attacker-controlled PHP into wp-content/uploads/ via the save_attachments() function when the CRM IMAP Email Connect feature parses inbound email attachments. Because file extension validation and path normalization are both missing, a crafted email with a forged References header and a path-traversal filename escapes the .htaccess-protected crm-attachments directory, enabling remote code execution on hosts where PHP executes in the uploads directory. There is no public exploit identified at time of analysis and it is not listed in CISA KEV, but the CVSS base score of 9.8 reflects the unauthenticated, network-reachable nature of the flaw.
RemediationAI
Upstream fix available (PR/commit); released patched version not independently confirmed - the code change is committed in WordPress plugin changeset 3656848 (https://plugins.trac.wordpress.org/changeset/3656848/erp), so update WP ERP to the latest available release above 1.17.8 as soon as the vendor publishes it and verify via the Wordfence advisory (https://www.wordfence.com/threat-intel/vulnerabilities/id/b9d11eb9-5e18-459f-a9d4-cccb1d593402?source=cve). If an immediate update is not possible, disable the CRM Email Connect / inbound IMAP sync feature, which removes the attack surface entirely at the cost of losing automated email-to-CRM ingestion. As a defense-in-depth compensating control, configure the web server to deny PHP execution within wp-content/uploads/ (for example an Apache 'php_flag engine off' or an Nginx location block returning 403 for .php under uploads), which prevents the dropped file from executing; the trade-off is minimal since legitimate uploads should never need to run as PHP. Restricting or dedicating the plugin's inbound mailbox and monitoring wp-content/uploads/ for newly written .php files provides additional detection.

Technical ContextAI · show details
The vulnerability lives in WP ERP's CRM Email Connect module, which uses a cron-driven IMAP sync job to pull inbound email into the CRM. When processing message attachments, the save_attachments() function writes each attachment to disk using the attacker-supplied filename without validating the file extension (CWE-434, Unrestricted Upload of File with Dangerous Type) and without normalizing the path. A filename like '../helper.php' therefore both bypasses the intended .htaccess protection of the crm-attachments folder and drops an executable PHP file into wp-content/uploads/. The CPE cpe:2.3:a:wedevs:erp:_complete_hr,_accounting_&_crm_suite_built_for_woocommerce:*:*:*:*:*:*:*:* identifies the affected product as wedevs ERP. The exploit chains a WordPress plugin logic flaw with a classic PHP file-upload-to-RCE primitive, gated by whether the web server is configured to execute PHP from the uploads path.

DescriptionCVE.org
The ERP: Complete HR, Accounting & CRM Suite Built for WooCommerce plugin for WordPress is vulnerable to Unrestricted File Type Upload in all versions up to, and including, 1.17.8 via the save_attachments() function. This is due to missing file extension validation and missing path normalization when CRM Email Connect processes inbound IMAP email attachments. This makes it possible for unauthenticated attackers to send a crafted email to the site's configured inbound mailbox with a forged References header matching the plugin's expected pattern and an attachment filename such as ../helper.php, causing the cron-based IMAP sync job to write attacker-controlled PHP outside of the .htaccess-protected crm-attachments directory and into wp-content/uploads/. On configurations where PHP executes in uploads, this can lead to remote code execution. Exploitation requires the CRM module and IMAP Email Connect feature to be enabled and configured.

Executive ViewAI
The wedevs WP ERP WordPress plugin (versions 1.17.8 and earlier) contains a critical unauthenticated remote code execution flaw triggered through inbound email attachment processing in the IMAP Email Connect feature. Any WordPress site running this plugin with IMAP email integration enabled is at immediate risk of full server compromise and data exfiltration. Remediation is urgent because no vendor patch is currently available.
Interim mitigations pending vendor patch: Completely disable the wedevs WP ERP plugin or isolate the IMAP Email Connect module from production; enforce Web Application Firewall blocking of save_attachments() function calls; disable PHP script execution in wp-content/uploads/ directory via web server (.htaccess or equivalent); restrict file uploads by type and size; implement strict inbound email filtering and disable forwarding of untrusted email attachments; conduct immediate file system scans for unexpected PHP files in upload directories; enable server-level monitoring for suspicious process execution from the PHP/web process owner. No vendor-released patch identified at time of analysis.
