Exploitation Conditions

The attacker must already possess a valid CFNext subscription link, from which the subscription UUID - an MD5 of the admin password with a fixed, publicly known salt - can be read; this corresponds to PR:L. The admin password is then recovered via an offline brute-force that the application does not rate-limit. Exploitation is limited by three factors: possession of a subscription link is required (not fully anonymous), the offline brute-force only succeeds if the admin password is weak enough to crack (reflected in AC:H), and only CFNext versions before 3.1.0 are affected. No user interaction is needed once the UUID is held.

Impact

The vendor CVSS 4.0 base score is 7.7 (High), driven by full confidentiality, integrity and availability impact on the vulnerable system (VC:H/VI:H/VA:H) once the admin panel is reached. Two signals temper the raw severity: AC:H reflects that password recovery requires an offline brute-force whose success depends on the admin password's strength, and PR:L means the attacker must already hold a valid subscription link rather than being fully anonymous. The vuln.today decision label is 'this_week' (not act_now/emergency), consistent with a serious-but-not-crisis prioritization. No EPSS score and no CISA KEV entry were provided, so there is no evidence of active or widespread exploitation, and no verified public exploit code was supplied - meaning this should be treated as a credible, patch-this-week issue rather than an emergency. Key missing data: EPSS exploitation probability is absent, and KEV status is not indicated (treated as not listed). The main risk amplifier is the sensitivity of what the admin panel exposes - stored Trojan, Clash, Telegram and Cloudflare API secrets - so successful exploitation yields high-value credential disclosure even though the entry barrier (holding a subscription link plus crackable password) limits the attacker population.

Exploit ScenarioDerived

An attacker who has been issued a CFNext subscription link (e.g. a low-trust subscriber) extracts the subscription UUID, which is an MD5 of the admin password computed with a fixed public salt, and runs an unrate-limited offline brute-force to recover the plaintext admin password. They then log into the admin panel and read the stored Trojan, Clash, Telegram and Cloudflare API secrets. No verified public exploit code was provided, though a VulnCheck advisory and a GitHub disclosure issue (#57) exist; the high attack complexity means success hinges on the admin password being weak enough to crack.

AnalysisAIv1 – Nov 03, 2026

Offline recovery of the CFNext admin password allows anyone holding a valid subscription link to take over the admin panel and read stored Trojan, Clash, Telegram and Cloudflare API secrets in all versions before 3.1.0. The subscription UUID is an MD5 hash of the admin password combined with a fixed, publicly known salt, so the UUID functions as an offline password verifier that can be attacked with unlimited guesses because no rate limiting applies. Exploitation is constrained: the attacker must first obtain a subscription link, and the brute-force only succeeds against an admin password weak enough to crack; no public exploit code was identified at time of analysis, and a vendor fix exists in CFNext 3.1.0 (commit ca8ad82).

RemediationAI

Vendor-released patch: upgrade CFNext to 3.1.0 or later, which reworks the subscription UUID derivation as shown in commit ca8ad82bb7c635f765c82a1cd0c954fd70d81fb7 and is described in the VulnCheck advisory at https://www.vulncheck.com/advisories/cfnext-before-3.1.0-admin-password-recovery-via-md5-derived-subscription-uuid. Because the UUID is a derivable function of the password rather than a random token, every subscription link issued by a pre-3.1.0 instance should be treated as password-equivalent material: set the admin password to a high-entropy random value so that offline MD5 brute-force is infeasible, and reissue subscription links after upgrading so old UUIDs cannot be reused. Assume any credential the panel stored before the upgrade may have been exposed if a subscription link leaked, and rotate the Trojan, Clash, Telegram bot and Cloudflare API secrets accordingly; rotating those secrets is disruptive to clients that consume the subscription output but is the only way to invalidate data already readable through the admin panel. Until the upgrade is applied, avoid distributing subscription links beyond intended recipients, since possession of a single link is the entire precondition for the attack, and note that no evidence in the available sources indicates server-side rate limiting mitigates the offline step.

Technical ContextAI · show details

The flaw is CWE-760, use of a one-way hash with a predictable salt, in CFNext's subscription-link handling. As documented in the referenced source (CFNext-明文版.js, lines 12 and 2440) and the VulnCheck advisory, each subscription UUID is derived as MD5 of the admin password concatenated with a fixed, publicly known salt, so the UUID is not merely an identifier but a password-equivalent verifier. Because the salt is static and published in the source, an attacker who reads a UUID from any issued subscription link can mount a fully offline dictionary or brute-force attack without touching the server and without any rate limiting, then replay the recovered credential against the admin panel. CFNext appears to be deployed as a Cloudflare Workers/Pages JavaScript application (the patched file imports cloudflare:sockets and ships a Pages archive), which means the salt and derivation logic are embedded in client-deliverable code. Impact is bounded by password strength - the assessed vector uses AC:H for exactly this reason - while successful recovery yields full confidentiality, integrity and availability impact on the panel (VC:H/VI:H/VA:H) and exposure of every secret the panel stores.

DescriptionCVE.org

CFNext before 3.1.0 contains a weak cryptographic derivation vulnerability that allows subscription link holders to recover the admin password because the subscription UUID is an MD5 of the password with a fixed public salt. Attackers can brute-force the password offline without rate limiting, log into the admin panel, and read stored Trojan, Clash, Telegram and Cloudflare API secrets.

Executive ViewAI

Why It Matters

CVE-2026-121450 affects CFNext, a tool used for network management, in versions before 3.1.0. It allows an attacker who obtains a valid subscription link to recover the admin password offline and take over the admin panel, exposing stored secrets for Trojan, Clash, Telegram, and Cloudflare. This puts sensitive API credentials at risk, potentially leading to broader compromise of related services and data.
