DescriptionCVE.org

The Yoast SEO Premium WordPress plugin before 27.6.1 does not sanitize control characters from redirect origins before writing them to the site's Apache configuration file when the file-based redirect mode is enabled, and the redirect-creation endpoint is reachable by users with only Author-level access. This allows such users to inject arbitrary newline-delimited Apache directives into the root .htaccess file. On Apache servers that honour PHP directives, the injection can be chained with the user's own media upload (a polyglot image carrying a PHP payload) and an auto_prepend_file directive to achieve Remote Code Execution.

AnalysisAI

Control-character (newline) injection in Yoast SEO Premium before 27.6.1 allows an authenticated WordPress Author to write arbitrary Apache directives into the site's root .htaccess file via unsanitized redirect origins in file-based redirect mode. On Apache servers that process PHP directives, the injected auto_prepend_file directive can be chained with a polyglot image upload (available to Author-role users) to achieve full Remote Code Execution as the web server process. …

Vulnerability AssessmentAI

Exploitation Three specific conditions must all be true simultaneously: (1) Yoast SEO Premium before 27.6.1 is installed and active; (2) file-based redirect mode is explicitly enabled in the plugin's redirect manager - this is a non-default configuration that must be deliberately activated by an administrator; (3) the site runs on Apache with PHP directive processing active (mod_php, PHP-FPM with .htaccess INI override support, or equivalent - not nginx, which ignores .htaccess). … Additional conditions and limiting factors are described in the full assessment.
Risk Assessment The provided CVSS vector CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:H/PR:H/UI:N/S:U/C:H/I:H/A:H conflicts internally with the description: PR:H (high privileges) is inconsistent with exploitation by Author-level WordPress users, who represent a low-privilege authenticated role (PR:L). … Full risk analysis with EPSS, KEV, and SSVC signal comparison available after sign-in.
Exploit Scenario Full exploit scenario with step-by-step reproduction available after sign-in.
Remediation Update Yoast SEO Premium to version 27.6.1 or later immediately, as confirmed by the vendor advisory at https://yoast.com/yoast-seo-premium-may-26-2026/. … Detailed patch versions, workarounds, and compensating controls in full report.
