AnalysisAI

Grandstream GAC2500 1.0.3.35, GXP2200 1.0.3.27, GVC3202 1.0.3.51, GXV3275 before 1.0.3.219 Beta, and GXV3240 before 1.0.3.219 Beta devices allow unauthenticated remote code execution via shell. Rated critical severity (CVSS 9.8), this vulnerability is remotely exploitable, no authentication required, low attack complexity. Public exploit code available and no vendor patch available.

RemediationAI

No vendor patch is available at time of analysis. Monitor vendor advisories for updates. Avoid passing user input to shell commands. Use language-specific APIs instead of shell execution. Apply strict input validation with allowlists.

Technical ContextAI · show details

This vulnerability is classified as OS Command Injection (CWE-78), which allows attackers to execute arbitrary operating system commands on the host. Grandstream GAC2500 1.0.3.35, GXP2200 1.0.3.27, GVC3202 1.0.3.51, GXV3275 before 1.0.3.219 Beta, and GXV3240 before 1.0.3.219 Beta devices allow unauthenticated remote code execution via shell metacharacters in a /manager?action=getlogcat priority field, in conjunction with a buffer overflow (via the phonecookie cookie) to overwrite a data structure and consequently bypass authentication. This can be exploited remotely or via CSRF because the cookie can be placed in an Accept HTTP header in an XMLHttpRequest call to lighttpd. Affected products include: Grandstream Gac2500 Firmware, Grandstream Gvc3202 Firmware, Grandstream Gxv3275 Firmware, Grandstream Gxv3240 Firmware, Grandstream Gxp2200 Firmware. Version information: before 1.0.3.219.

Attack Technique

OS command injection occurs when an application passes unsanitized user input directly into system shell commands.

Cross-Site Request Forgery exploits the automatic credential inclusion behavior of web browsers.

A buffer overflow occurs when a program writes more data to a memory buffer than it was allocated to hold, causing the excess data to spill into adjacent memory regions.

Remote Code Execution represents the critical moment when an attacker successfully runs arbitrary code on a target system without physical access.
