Local IPC channel access with an existing low-privilege account (AV:L, PR:L), low complexity and no interaction (AC:L, UI:N); command injection yields full C/I/A on the appliance, scope unchanged to match vendor subsequent-system metrics.

3DescriptionCVE.org
A local privilege escalation vulnerability exists in the system logging daemon of Brocade Fabric OS versions before 9.2.2d and 10.0.0 through 10.0.0a1. Insufficient access controls on internal inter-process communication (IPC) channels allow an unprivileged local user to submit malformed logging configurations. Due to improper input sanitization during configuration file generation, an attacker can inject arbitrary directives that execute with elevated privileges when the logging service reloads, leading to local privilege escalation.
AnalysisAI
Local privilege escalation in Brocade Fabric OS (versions before 9.2.2d and 10.0.0 through 10.0.0a1) allows an unprivileged local user to submit malformed logging configurations that inject arbitrary directives into the system logging daemon's configuration file. These directives execute with elevated privileges when the logging service reloads, enabling an attacker to gain root-level access on the switch. …

Vulnerability AssessmentAI
| Exploitation | Requires an existing unprivileged LOCAL account on the switch and the ability to reach the system logging daemon's internal IPC channel, which has insufficient access controls. … Additional conditions and limiting factors are described in the full assessment. |
| Risk Assessment | This is a genuine but conditionally-gated priority rather than a drop-everything emergency. … Full risk analysis with EPSS, KEV, and SSVC signal comparison available after sign-in. |
| Exploit Scenario | Full exploit scenario with step-by-step reproduction available after sign-in. |
| Remediation | Vendor-released patch: upgrade to Brocade Fabric OS 9.2.2d or later for the 9.x branch; for the 10.x branch, apply the fixed release later than 10.0.0a1 as specified in the vendor advisory (https://support.broadcom.com/external/content/SecurityAdvisories/0/39145). … Detailed patch versions, workarounds, and compensating controls in full report. |
Recommended ActionAI
Within 24 hours, inventory all Brocade Fabric OS assets and confirm which run versions before 9.2.2d or within 10.0.0 through 10.0.0a1, then pull the full list of local accounts on each affected switch and disable or delete any account that is not strictly required; because no vendor patch is currently available, restrict SAN switch management access to a hardened, monitored administrative network and require that all administrative sessions traverse a controlled jump host. …
