DescriptionCVE.org

OpenClaw's Discord integration (npm package @openclaw/discord) before version 2026.9.3 could lose the sender-scoped media policy in the emoji and sticker upload actions before loading a local file. A sender permitted to invoke those actions could cause OpenClaw to read a host path that the same sender's configured media roots would otherwise reject, placing bytes from an out-of-policy local file into an outbound emoji or sticker upload. Exploitation requires access to the guild asset action and knowledge or derivation of a useful local path; the issue does not permit unrestricted filesystem browsing or code execution. The issue is fixed in @openclaw/discord 2026.9.3.

AnalysisAI

Out-of-policy local file disclosure in OpenClaw's Discord integration (@openclaw/discord) before 2026.9.3 allows an authenticated sender who is already permitted to invoke the guild emoji and sticker upload actions to have the integration read and upload bytes from a local host file that the sender's configured media roots would otherwise reject. The bypass is narrow: it stems from the sender-scoped media policy being dropped in the emoji/sticker upload code path before the local file is loaded, and it does not grant filesystem browsing, directory listing, or code execution - the attacker must already know or derive a useful absolute path on the OpenClaw host. …

Vulnerability AssessmentAI

Exploitation Exploitation requires that the OpenClaw Discord integration (@openclaw/discord before 2026.9.3) be deployed and that the attacker be a sender already permitted to invoke the guild emoji and sticker upload actions (PR:L). … Additional conditions and limiting factors are described in the full assessment.
Risk Assessment This is a high-CVSS-but-low-real-priority issue. … Full risk analysis with EPSS, KEV, and SSVC signal comparison available after sign-in.
Exploit Scenario Full exploit scenario with step-by-step reproduction available after sign-in.
Remediation Vendor-released patch: upgrade @openclaw/discord to 2026.9.3, which is the version in which the sender-scoped media policy is enforced on the emoji and sticker upload paths; the fix is documented in the GitHub advisory GHSA-xvwp-wmh2-fq48 (https://github.com/openclaw/openclaw/security/advisories/GHSA-xvwp-wmh2-fq48) with additional detail in the VulnCheck advisory (https://www.vulncheck.com/advisories/vulnerability-in-discord). … Detailed patch versions, workarounds, and compensating controls in full report.

Threat intelligence, references, and detailed analysis are available after sign-in.
