Exploitation Conditions

No special conditions - remote unauthenticated exploitation against default configurations of LaSuite Doc (suitenumerique/docs) versions 4.8.2 up to but not including 5.4.0, targeting the GET /api/v1.0/documents/search/ endpoint. Exploitation is inherently LIMITED to PUBLIC documents (and, for authenticated callers, documents reachable via authenticated link sharing); documents with restricted access remain protected. The disclosure relies on the search endpoint accepting a 'path' parameter to scope descendant searches without requiring possession of the document UUID, plus a distinguishable 403 Forbidden vs 404 Not Found response acting as a path-existence oracle - both removed in 5.4.0, which scopes search by resolved document ID instead of path prefix.

Impact

This is a genuine but moderate-severity information-disclosure issue, not a critical one. The CVSS 3.1 vector (AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:N/S:U/C:L/I:L/A:N = 6.5) correctly reflects a network-reachable, low-complexity, unauthenticated flaw with limited impact. No EPSS score, no CISA KEV listing, and no public exploit code were provided, so exploitation status is 'no public exploit identified at time of analysis' - this is a self-reported GitHub Security Advisory (GHSA-p8v2-wjj3-3j9w) with a confirmed fix commit rather than an actively-exploited vulnerability. The 'automatable' dimension is high: enumeration of sequential seven-digit paths plus a 403-vs-404 response oracle is trivially scriptable, so opportunistic mass-enumeration against exposed instances is plausible despite the absence of a published PoC. One note of caution on the vector: NVD assigns I:L, but the described behavior is read-only enumeration and content retrieval of already-public documents - I see no integrity impact and would rate I:N (see assessed vector). Net: prioritize patching internet-exposed LaSuite Doc instances, but this is a confidentiality/exposure problem, not RCE or a takeover.

Exploit ScenarioDerived

An unauthenticated attacker sends GET /api/v1.0/documents/search/ with an empty query and iterates predictable seven-digit path values, using the differing 403/404 responses as an oracle to map which public document subtrees exist. Harvested identifiers, titles, creator data, and tree metadata are then fed into normal public-document endpoints to pull the actual document content. No public PoC was provided, but the attack is fully scriptable and requires no credentials or user interaction.

AnalysisAIv1 – Sep 24, 2026

Unauthenticated enumeration of document metadata in LaSuite Doc (suitenumerique/docs) versions 4.8.2 up to but not including 5.4.0, via the GET /api/v1.0/documents/search/ endpoint that accepts a predictable seven-digit 'path' value to scope descendant searches. Because the endpoint does not require the caller to know a document's public UUID, a remote unauthenticated attacker can submit an empty search query and iterate path values to harvest document identifiers, titles, creator data, timestamps and tree metadata for public documents, then feed the disclosed identifiers into normal public-document endpoints to read the content; authenticated users can likewise reach documents shared via authenticated links, while restricted documents remain protected. Severity is moderate and confidentiality-only (assessed CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:N/S:U/C:L/I:N/A:N), exploitation requires no special conditions or authentication (CVSS vector PR:N), no public exploit code was identified at time of analysis, and the issue is fixed in version 5.4.0. This is a genuine but moderate-severity information-disclosure issue, not a critical one.

RemediationAI

Vendor-released patch: upgrade to LaSuite Doc (suitenumerique/docs) version 5.4.0, which resolves the searching scoping by document ID rather than path prefix and removes the 403/404 path-existence oracle; the corresponding upstream commit is https://github.com/suitenumerique/docs/commit/9ef4a15f5e7437c73ad04d2115a15dba3ffb7a76 and release notes are at https://github.com/suitenumerique/docs/releases/tag/v5.4.0, with the advisory at https://github.com/suitenumerique/docs/security/advisories/GHSA-p8v2-wjj3-3j9w. Be aware that 5.4.0 is a breaking API change: any client, integration or saved query that still sends the old 'path' search parameter will no longer receive descendant-scoped results and must be migrated to pass the parent document's UUID via the new 'document' parameter, so test integrations before/after upgrading. If immediate upgrade is not possible, compensating controls include blocking or rate-limiting requests to /api/v1.0/documents/search/ that carry a 'path' parameter at the reverse proxy or WAF (side effect: breaks legitimate descendant search for un-migrated clients, but normal keyword search without the path parameter keeps working), and monitoring/alerting on rapid sequential or enumerated 'path' values issued from a single source. Because the exposed data is limited to documents that are already public or reachable via authenticated link sharing, asset owners should also review whether any sensitive content has been inadvertently published as public or link-shared and tighten those permissions, since this cannot be retroactively un-disclosed by patching alone. There is no vendor-released workaround that preserves the path-based scoping while removing the disclosure.

Technical ContextAI · show details

The flaw is a classic CWE-200 exposure of sensitive information, implemented in the Django/Django REST Framework backend of LaSuite Doc. The search serializer (src/backend/core/api/serializers.py, SearchQueryParamDocumentSerializer) previously accepted a free-form 'path' CharField, and the search viewsets (src/backend/core/api/viewsets.py) passed that value into the indexer and into the database fallback, which selected all documents whose hierarchical path started with the supplied prefix (including the parent itself). Document paths in this platform are sequential seven-digit values, so they are trivially guessable and act as a stand-in for the unguessable public document UUID that is supposed to gate access. Two design choices combined to expose data: (1) the unauthenticated search endpoint never verified that the caller possessed the document UUID referenced by the path, and (2) error handling distinguished a non-existent path (404 Not Found) from an existing but unauthorized one (403 Forbidden), giving attackers a reliable existence oracle to drive the enumeration. The upstream fix (commit 9ef4a15f5e7437c73ad04d2115a15dba3ffb7a76, released in v5.4.0) replaces the 'path' CharField with a 'document' UUIDField, resolves the document ID to its internal path server-side, returns a uniform 404 for unknown documents, and thereby requires callers to already know the opaque UUID. Note that this is an intentional breaking API change for any client still sending the old 'path' parameter.

DescriptionCVE.org

LaSuite Doc is a collaborative note taking, wiki and documentation platform. From 4.8.2 until 5.4.0, GET /api/v1.0/documents/search/ accepts sequential seven-digit document paths to scope descendant searches without requiring the caller to possess the public document UUID. An unauthenticated caller can submit an empty search query and iterate predictable path values to enumerate public document subtrees, obtaining document identifiers, titles, creator data, timestamps, and tree metadata. Each disclosed identifier can then be used through normal public-document endpoints to retrieve the document content, and differing 403 Forbidden and 404 Not Found responses reveal whether a guessed path exists. Authenticated users can similarly discover documents with authenticated link reach, while restricted documents remain protected. This issue is fixed in version 5.4.0.
