Network-reachable and low-complexity, but the documented Temporal Server path needs an authenticated namespace-read caller (PR:L); impact is availability-only (A:H), no C/I.

4DescriptionCVE.org
temporalio/sqlparser can panic when Parse, ParseStrictDDL, or ParseNext processes a MySQL version comment whose contents are empty or consist only of one to five decimal digits. ExtractMysqlComment does not check the -1 result returned by strings.IndexFunc before using it as a slice boundary. The resulting Go runtime panic propagates unless the caller recovers it on the parsing goroutine, so applications that parse attacker-controlled SQL can terminate. Temporal Server exposes the affected parser through ListWorkers. When that API is enabled, an authenticated caller with namespace read permission can submit a malformed query that terminates the receiving Matching process. Repeated requests can sustain a denial of service. The issue affects availability only; no confidentiality or integrity impact was identified.
AnalysisAI
Denial of service in Temporal Server allows an authenticated caller holding at least namespace read permission to crash the receiving Matching process by submitting a malformed MySQL version comment through the ListWorkers API when that API is enabled. The root cause is in the bundled temporalio/sqlparser Go library, where ExtractMysqlComment fails to validate the -1 returned by strings.IndexFunc before using it as a slice boundary, producing an unhandled Go runtime panic whenever a '/*! …

Vulnerability AssessmentAI
| Exploitation | Exploitation requires the Temporal Server ListWorkers API to be ENABLED and the attacker to be an AUTHENTICATED caller holding at least namespace read permission - both stated explicitly in the vendor description. … Additional conditions and limiting factors are described in the full assessment. |
| Risk Assessment | This is a genuine but bounded availability-only issue. … Full risk analysis with EPSS, KEV, and SSVC signal comparison available after sign-in. |
| Exploit Scenario | Full exploit scenario with step-by-step reproduction available after sign-in. |
| Remediation | The primary fix is the parser update shipped in Temporal Server v1.30.7 and v1.31.3, which bump github.com/temporalio/sqlparser from v0.0.0-20231115171017-f4060bcfa6cb to v0.0.0-20260721183058-0466b6b405ac (see https://github.com/temporalio/temporal/pull/11190 and https://github.com/temporalio/temporal/pull/11090); upgrade to those releases or newer. … Detailed patch versions, workarounds, and compensating controls in full report. |
Recommended ActionAI
Within 24 hours, inventory all Temporal Server deployments and confirm whether the ListWorkers API is enabled and whether any instance uses MySQL-backed visibility; restrict ListWorkers to trusted administrative networks or disable it where not required, review namespace read permissions, and monitor for Matching process crashes. …
