Pure confidentiality (C:H) from cleartext-at-rest exposure; PR:L for required database/backup read access; AV:N accepted though backup/data-file reads may be local; no integrity or availability impact.

3DescriptionCVE.org
Mongoid may omit encryption rules for fields declared on embedded models when generating the client-side field-level encryption schema. Applications that enable this feature can therefore store values intended to be encrypted in readable form, with no error or warning. A party with routine read access to the database, a backup, or the underlying data files may then see data that was meant to remain unreadable outside the application.
AnalysisAI
Mongoid can silently persist values in readable form that applications intended to encrypt, because its client-side field-level encryption (CSFLE) schema generation omits encryption rules for fields declared on embedded models - the MongoDB driver then writes those values unencrypted with no error or warning. The exposure is limited to applications that both enable CSFLE and declare encrypted fields on embedded documents (top-level fields are not implicated), and to parties who already hold read access to the database, a backup, or the underlying on-disk data files; there is no write, integrity, or availability impact and no remote code execution. …

Vulnerability AssessmentAI
| Exploitation | Exploitation requires all of: (1) the application enables Mongoid's client-side field-level encryption (CSFLE) feature, (2) it declares fields intended for encryption on EMBEDDED models (top-level document fields are not implicated by this description), and (3) the party has read access to the MongoDB data - routine database read access, a database backup, or the underlying on-disk data files. … Additional conditions and limiting factors are described in the full assessment. |
| Risk Assessment | This is a genuine but bounded confidentiality risk, and the signals are internally consistent. … Full risk analysis with EPSS, KEV, and SSVC signal comparison available after sign-in. |
| Exploit Scenario | Full exploit scenario with step-by-step reproduction available after sign-in. |
| Remediation | No vendor-released patch or fixed version was identified in the available data; remediation status should be confirmed against the upstream tracking issue at https://jira.mongodb.org/browse/MONGOID-5989 before relying on a release fix. … Detailed patch versions, workarounds, and compensating controls in full report. |
Recommended ActionAI
Within 24 hours, inventory every application using Mongoid with client-side field-level encryption enabled and determine which of them declare encrypted fields on embedded documents; treat the affected data as plaintext and verify by directly inspecting stored documents, snapshots, and backups, since the MongoDB driver writes these values unencrypted without any error or warning. …
