Network-reachable but AC:H due to the BREACH side-channel effort and required preconditions, PR:N (unauthenticated attacker), UI:R (victim traffic needed); impact is token disclosure (C:L) enabling CSRF forgery (I:L), no availability effect.

Mojolicious is a real-time web framework for Perl. Prior to 9.48, the Mojolicious CSRF helpers csrf_field, csrf_token, and csrf_protect reuse an unchanged per-session token in rendered HTML. When response compression is enabled and attacker-influenced content is reflected in the same response, an unauthenticated attacker who can induce many victim requests and observe response sizes can use a BREACH compression side channel to recover the token and forge cross-site requests. API-only deployments that never render the token in HTML are not affected. This issue is fixed in version 9.48.
AnalysisAI
Cross-site request forgery token recovery in the Mojolicious Perl web framework (all versions prior to 9.48, tracked as cpe:2.3:a:mojolicious:mojo) lets an unauthenticated attacker recover a victim's per-session CSRF token through a BREACH compression side channel and then forge cross-site requests that pass csrf_protect. The attack only works in deployments that enable HTTP response compression and render the token into HTML (via csrf_field, csrf_token, or csrf_protect) while reflecting attacker-influenced content in that same compressed response; API-only deployments that never emit the token in HTML are explicitly unaffected. …

| Remediation | Upgrade to Mojolicious 9.48 or later, which is the vendor-released patch: it masks the session CSRF token with a fresh 20-byte random value on every request (producing an 80-hex-character value) and validates it with a constant-time comparison, so BREACH cannot recover a stable secret. … Detailed patch versions, workarounds, and compensating controls in full report. |
