| Exploitation Conditions | Requires that the target AVideo instance has the Live plugin installed and its stats.json.php / calendar.json.php endpoints reachable over HTTP(S) - i.e., the deployment mode where live streaming is enabled, which is the default for sites using that plugin. At least one live transmission (or scheduled event, for the calendar endpoint) and, ideally for the attacker, one that is scoped to a restricted user group must exist for the leak to be meaningful; the group restriction itself is precisely what the endpoint fails to enforce. Per the CVSS 4.0 vector (PR:N, UI:N), no authentication, session, or user interaction is required, and no special headers or non-default configuration flags are needed. Limiting factors: the endpoints are path-specific, so a site that has removed or disabled the Live plugin is not affected; the leak is read-only (VI:N/VA:N), so it does not by itself alter the platform, and the direct-URL HLS access may be constrained if the site additionally protects the HLS layer with tokens or CDN signing. |
| Impact | The CVSS 4.0 base vector (AV:N/AC:L/AT:N/PR:N/UI:N/VC:H/VI:N/VA:N) describes a network-reachable, low-complexity, unauthenticated disclosure of high-value confidential data with no user interaction and no attack requirements - a purely automatable reconnaissance-class attack. The impact is confined to confidentiality (no integrity or availability impact, no scope change), which is consistent with the metadata/HLS-URL leak described; the 8.7 score is driven by VC:H. There is no CISA KEV listing and no confirmed public PoC in the supplied data, so this is not currently a confirmed active-exploitation emergency, but EPSS-style mass scanning potential is high because the endpoints are unauthenticated GET requests that can be enumerated across the internet. The key caveat: absent KEV or PoC confirmation, treat this as a high-priority exposure-reduction item rather than an incident response trigger. No EPSS score was supplied - exploitation likelihood is inferred from the CVSS vector, not measured. |
| Exploit ScenarioDerived | An attacker enumerates AVideo hosts (fingerprinted by the platform's login page or the plugin/Live path), then issues two unauthenticated GET requests to /plugin/Live/stats.json.php and /plugin/Live/calendar.json.php. The JSON responses return stream keys, titles, descriptions, owner identities, and direct HLS playback URLs for live transmissions that were meant to be restricted to a specific user group. The attacker then either publishes to the victim's RTMP ingest using the leaked stream key (hijacking the channel) or simply watches/re-broadcasts the private feed via the HLS URL. |

Alert meAnalysisAIv1 – Sep 15, 2026
Unauthenticated attackers can pull restricted live-stream metadata - including RTMP stream keys, stream titles, descriptions, owner details, and direct HLS playback URLs - from two JSON endpoints in the AVideo Live plugin (plugin/Live/stats.json.php and plugin/Live/calendar.json.php) in all versions up to and including 29.0. The endpoints fail to enforce the platform's user-group access restrictions, so content intended only for members of a specific group is exposed to anyone who can reach the server. No public exploit code or CISA KEV entry was identified at time of analysis, but the flaw is trivially automatable over the network with no credentials or user interaction, and CVSS 4.0 rates it 8.7 with high confidentiality impact.
RemediationAI
No vendor-released patch was identified at time of analysis - track GHSA-4xhp-wjpj-p92w (https://github.com/WWBN/AVideo/security/advisories/GHSA-4xhp-wjpj-p92w) and the VulnCheck advisory for a fixed AVideo release and upgrade as soon as one is tagged, checking that the release notes reference these two Live endpoints. Until then, apply compensating controls: block direct HTTP access to plugin/Live/stats.json.php and plugin/Live/calendar.json.php at the reverse proxy or web server (Apache/nginx deny/return 403 rules scoped to those exact paths) - this is the highest-fidelity mitigation but will break the live-stats widget and any calendar integration that consumes those endpoints unless the requests are proxied through an authenticated path; if live streaming is not in use, disable or remove the plugin/Live directory entirely (low side effect, removes the attack surface); if the endpoints must remain reachable, wrap them in web-server-level authentication (basic auth or SSO) and restrict source IPs to trusted admin ranges - this preserves functionality but degrades the anonymous-viewer experience. Independently, rotate any live-stream keys that may have been exposed, since the leak includes publishing credentials that permit stream hijacking.

Technical ContextAI · show details
AVideo is a PHP-based, self-hosted video streaming and live-broadcast platform (a YouTube-like CMS) built on a LAMP-style stack, with live functionality implemented by the plugin/Live component. The two affected handlers, plugin/Live/stats.json.php and plugin/Live/calendar.json.php, are JSON API endpoints that render live transmission state and scheduling data. The root cause is CWE-200 (Exposure of Sensitive Information to an Unauthorized Actor), specifically a broken access control / missing authorization check: the endpoints emit the live-stream record regardless of whether the requesting session belongs to the user group that owns or is permitted to view the stream. Because the disclosure includes the stream key, which is the shared secret used to authenticate a publisher to the RTMP ingest, exposure escalates from simple information leakage to potential stream hijacking or unauthorized publishing to the victim's channel.

DescriptionCVE.org
WWBN AVideo through 29.0 fails to enforce user-group restrictions in the plugin/Live/stats.json.php and plugin/Live/calendar.json.php endpoints. Unauthenticated attackers can retrieve restricted live transmission details including stream keys, titles, descriptions, owner information, and direct HLS playback URLs by accessing these endpoints.
