CRITICAL 9.2

DescriptionCVE.org

OpenPanel before 2.3.0 contains an unauthenticated server-side request forgery vulnerability in the GET /tools/site-checker endpoint that accepts a fully client-controlled URL parameter with no private IP filtering or DNS-rebinding protection. Attackers can make the OpenPanel server issue requests to internal services, localhost, and cloud metadata endpoints, reading internal HTTP response titles, headers, status codes, and SSL certificate information.

AnalysisAI

Server-side request forgery in OpenPanel before 2.3.0 lets unauthenticated remote attackers coerce the panel server into issuing arbitrary outbound requests via the GET /tools/site-checker endpoint, which accepts a fully client-controlled URL with no private-IP filtering or DNS-rebinding defenses. Attackers can reach localhost, internal-only services, and cloud metadata endpoints, harvesting HTTP response titles, headers, status codes, and SSL certificate details. …

Vulnerability AssessmentAI

Exploitation No special conditions - remote unauthenticated exploitation against default configurations of OpenPanel before 2.3.0 via the GET /tools/site-checker endpoint (AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:N). … Additional conditions and limiting factors are described in the full assessment.
Risk Assessment The CVSS 4.0 score of 9.2 (AV:N/AC:L/AT:N/PR:N/UI:N/VC:H/VI:N/VA:N/SC:H/SI:N/SA:N) reflects a genuinely low-friction, unauthenticated, network-reachable read primitive with high confidentiality impact on both the vulnerable system and downstream subsequent systems (SC:H) - consistent with the described ability to pivot into internal services and cloud metadata. … Full risk analysis with EPSS, KEV, and SSVC signal comparison available after sign-in.
Exploit Scenario Full exploit scenario with step-by-step reproduction available after sign-in.
Remediation Vendor-released patch: upgrade OpenPanel to 2.3.0 or later, per GHSA-gqcr-xgfj-pq29. … Detailed patch versions, workarounds, and compensating controls in full report.

Recommended ActionAI

Within 24 hours, identify all OpenPanel instances in production (query /version endpoint or check admin dashboard for version number) and determine exposure status; immediately restrict network access to OpenPanel if running pre-2.3.0 and external-facing. …
