3DescriptionCVE.org
An authorization flaw in the REST API repository details endpoint (GET /service/rest/v1/repositories/{repositoryName}) in Sonatype Nexus Repository 3 allowed an account holding read or browse permission on a group repository to retrieve metadata for member repositories on which it held no direct permission, by requesting the endpoint directly for the member repository name. For proxy repositories, the disclosed metadata includes the configured remote URL, which may reveal internal upstream hostnames. This includes the anonymous user if it has been granted this permission; whether the anonymous user holds this permission depends on the role and permission configuration of the specific installation.
AnalysisAI
Improper authorization in Sonatype Nexus Repository 3 exposes repository metadata to users who lack direct permissions on those repositories. An account holding read or browse access on a group repository can directly query the REST API endpoint GET /service/rest/v1/repositories/{repositoryName} for any member repository by name, bypassing the access control checks that normally restrict visibility. …

Vulnerability AssessmentAI
| Exploitation | Exploitation requires the requesting account to hold at minimum a read or browse permission on at least one group repository in the Nexus instance, and the targeted member repository must belong to that group. … Additional conditions and limiting factors are described in the full assessment. |
| Risk Assessment | The supplied CVSS 4.0 vector (AV:N/AC:L/AT:N/PR:L/UI:N with VC:L and no integrity or availability impact) is broadly accurate: the vulnerability is network-reachable, low-complexity to exploit, requires at least low-level authenticated access in typical deployments, and produces only a modest confidentiality leak. … Full risk analysis with EPSS, KEV, and SSVC signal comparison available after sign-in. |
| Exploit Scenario | Full exploit scenario with step-by-step reproduction available after sign-in. |
| Remediation | Upgrade to Sonatype Nexus Repository 3.96.0 or later, where the authorization logic for the repository details endpoint has been corrected. … Detailed patch versions, workarounds, and compensating controls in full report. |
Threat intelligence, references, and detailed analysis are available after sign-in.
