DescriptionCVE.org

n8n before 1.123.69, 2.33.4, and 2.34.1 contains a stored cross-site scripting vulnerability in the Form node's completion page. The completion page applied its sandboxing Content-Security-Policy only when respondWith was not set to 'redirect', but responseText was always rendered as raw HTML. An authenticated member could set respondWith to 'redirect' via an expression while keeping responseText populated, causing the completion page to serve unsanitized HTML and script from the n8n origin. Any visitor who submitted the resulting public form would have that script execute same-origin with their session.

AnalysisAI

Stored XSS in n8n's Form node completion page allows a low-privileged authenticated workspace member to bypass the origin's Content-Security-Policy and deliver arbitrary scripts to public form submitters. The flaw stems from a conditional CSP application gap: sandboxing was only enforced when respondWith was not set to 'redirect', yet responseText was rendered as raw HTML regardless of that setting. …

Vulnerability AssessmentAI

Exploitation Exploitation requires the attacker to hold a low-privileged authenticated account on the target n8n instance with permission to create or edit workflows. … Additional conditions and limiting factors are described in the full assessment.
Risk Assessment The CVSS 4.0 score of 8.4 (AV:N/AC:L/AT:N/PR:L/UI:A/VC:H/VI:H/VA:N) accurately reflects the attack's realistic profile: low complexity and network-accessible, but gated behind a low-privileged authenticated account (PR:L) and requiring a victim to submit the form (UI:A). … Full risk analysis with EPSS, KEV, and SSVC signal comparison available after sign-in.
Exploit Scenario A low-privileged n8n workspace member crafts a workflow in which a Form node uses a dynamic expression to set `respondWith` to 'redirect' while embedding a JavaScript payload in `responseText`. The public form URL is distributed to targets; when a victim submits the form, the completion page renders the attacker's script without CSP protection in the n8n origin, allowing the attacker to exfiltrate the victim's n8n session token. …
Remediation Upgrade to n8n 1.123.69, 2.33.4, or 2.34.1 per the vendor security advisory at https://github.com/n8n-io/n8n/security/advisories/GHSA-rmr5-775f-jvm2. … Detailed patch versions, workarounds, and compensating controls in full report.
