Browser memory-corruption needs the victim to load malicious content (UI:R) and reliable exploitation of memory-safety bugs is non-trivial (AC:H); no auth (PR:N) and full code-execution impact (C/I/A:H).

DescriptionCVE.org

Internally found bugs present in Firefox ESR 140.13, Firefox ESR 153.0 and Firefox 153. Some of these bugs showed evidence of memory corruption or another security-relevant defect and we presume that with enough effort some of these could have been exploited. This vulnerability was fixed in Firefox 154, Firefox ESR 140.14, and Firefox ESR 153.1.

AnalysisAI

Memory corruption in Mozilla Firefox 153, Firefox ESR 153.0, and Firefox ESR 140.13 allows remote attackers to potentially execute arbitrary code within the browser process when a victim renders attacker-controlled web content. Mozilla internally discovered a batch of memory-safety defects (tracked across advisories MFSA2026-74 through MFSA2026-80) and states that some showed evidence of memory corruption presumed exploitable with sufficient effort. …

Vulnerability AssessmentAI

Exploitation Exploitation requires the victim to load attacker-controlled web content in an affected build (Firefox 153, ESR 153.0, or ESR 140.13) - the classic browser drive-by/social-engineering prerequisite. … Additional conditions and limiting factors are described in the full assessment.
Risk Assessment The provided CVSS 3.1 vector (AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:N/S:U/C:H/I:H/A:H, base 9.8) rates this as critical, but the UI:N component is questionable: browser memory-corruption bugs realistically require the victim to load malicious web content, i.e., user interaction - verify against Mozilla's own scoring. … Full risk analysis with EPSS, KEV, and SSVC signal comparison available after sign-in.
Exploit Scenario An attacker hosts a malicious web page (or injects malicious content into an ad or compromised site) crafted to trigger the memory-corruption defect in Firefox's rendering engine. When a user running an affected Firefox/ESR version visits the page, the corruption is triggered and, given sufficient exploit engineering, could lead to arbitrary code execution in the browser process. …
Remediation Vendor-released patch: upgrade to Firefox 154, Firefox ESR 140.14, or Firefox ESR 153.1 depending on your channel - this is the primary and complete fix. … Detailed patch versions, workarounds, and compensating controls in full report.

Recommended ActionAI

Within 24 hours, inventory all systems running affected Firefox versions (153, ESR 140.13, ESR 153.0) and prepare patch deployment packages for Firefox 154, ESR 140.14, and ESR 153.1 respectively; communicate the security update to all users. …
