S:C chosen because traversal escapes the plugin's intended directory boundary into the broader filesystem; PR:L reflects mandatory editor-level authentication; no confidentiality impact identified.

grav-plugin-api (getgrav/grav-plugin-api) versions >= 1.0.0-beta.10 and <= 1.0.14 contain a path traversal vulnerability in the PagesController::batchCopy() method. An incomplete fix for GHSA-qjq4-jp55-4mx2 left the user-controlled 'suffix' parameter (via POST /api/v1/pages/batch) unvalidated. An authenticated user with the api.pages.write permission (editor-level, not super-admin) can supply path traversal sequences (e.g. /../../../) in the suffix parameter to escape the intended user/pages/ directory and write attacker-controlled page content and page media to arbitrary filesystem locations writable by the web server process. The vulnerability is fixed in 1.0.15.
AnalysisAI
Path traversal in Grav Plugin API versions 1.0.0-beta.10 through 1.0.14 enables an authenticated editor-level user to write attacker-controlled page content and media to arbitrary filesystem locations accessible to the web server process. The root cause is an incomplete fix for a prior related path traversal (GHSA-qjq4-jp55-4mx2) that left the 'suffix' parameter of the PagesController::batchCopy() method unvalidated against directory escape sequences. …

Vulnerability AssessmentAI
| Exploitation | Exploitation requires a valid authenticated session with the api.pages.write permission assigned, which is an editor-level role and not restricted to super-administrators - any contributor account granted page editing via the API is a potential threat actor. … Additional conditions and limiting factors are described in the full assessment. |
| Risk Assessment | The CVSS 4.0 score of 7.1 with vector AV:N/AC:L/AT:N/PR:L/UI:N/VC:N/VI:H/VA:L reflects a network-accessible, low-complexity attack requiring only editor-level credentials - a meaningful real-world threat wherever untrusted contributors hold api.pages.write permissions. … Full risk analysis with EPSS, KEV, and SSVC signal comparison available after sign-in. |
| Exploit Scenario | An attacker with a valid editor-level account sends a POST request to /api/v1/pages/batch with a suffix value such as /../../../var/www/html/backdoor.md, causing the batchCopy() method to write attacker-controlled Markdown content to a web-accessible path outside the intended pages directory. No public exploit code is confirmed, but the traversal mechanism is straightforward given the incomplete-fix history and the simplicity of path manipulation in POST parameters. … |
| Remediation | Upgrade grav-plugin-api to version 1.0.15, which is the vendor-confirmed fix per advisory GHSA-g6j3-8jv9-ch5f at https://github.com/getgrav/grav/security/advisories/GHSA-g6j3-8jv9-ch5f. … Detailed patch versions, workarounds, and compensating controls in full report. |
