| Exploitation Conditions | Exploitation requires that the target run YesWiki 4.6.0 through at least 4.6.7 with the Bazar tool in use and at least one public Bazar entry-listing route reachable (the ApiController routes bazarlist / forms entries json are declared ACL 'public' by default) or a wiki page rendering a {{bazarliste}} action. No authentication, administrator role, debug configuration, or user interaction is needed, and the showreq parameter is satisfied by any value including an empty string, so default configurations are exploitable. Limiting factors: the instance must actually expose a Bazar listing endpoint, and the disclosure is reconnaissance only - it reveals schema/ACL/collation detail but does not directly return user records or credentials in the unauthenticated case. As an interim mitigation the advisory states operators can block or strip the showreq query parameter at a reverse proxy or WAF; the vendor fix is to remove or admin-gate the debug branch. |
| Impact | Signals are internally consistent and point to a genuine but moderate-priority issue rather than an emergency. The CVSS 4.0 vector (AV:N/AC:L/AT:N/PR:N/UI:N) describes remote, unauthenticated, low-complexity access, and the source evidence confirms the Bazar listing API routes are declared ACL 'public' and the only guard is isset($_GET['showreq']), so the triggering conditions are real and trivially met. However, impact is confined to confidentiality of internal structure: VC:L with VI:N/VA:N, consistent with CWE-215 (information disclosure of debug data). EPSS is low at 0.23% (14th percentile) and there is no CISA KEV listing, which aligns with a reconnaissance-only primitive that does not by itself yield records, credentials, code execution, or data modification. The vuln.today decision label is 'this_month' (not act_now/emergency), matching the low EPSS and absence of active-exploitation signals. The main nuance is that this flaw is a force-multiplier: it lowers the cost of follow-on targeted SQL injection and ACL-bypass attacks by exposing prefixed table names, JSON_EXTRACT paths, ACL LIKE logic, and collation. Net: a legitimate patch-this-cycle item for YesWiki operators, not a drop-everything issue, with severity driven by its value as a stepping stone rather than direct impact. |
| Exploit ScenarioDerived | An unauthenticated attacker appends showreq to a public Bazar listing API call (e.g. GET /?api/entries/bazarlist&showreq=1) and reads the fully assembled SQL query returned in the JSON response under a rawOutput key. Because the attack vector is network, complexity is low, and no authentication or user interaction is required, this is reliable against default installations. The advisory documents concrete reproduction steps, so a public PoC reference exists, though the input does not confirm a packaged working exploit; the disclosed schema and ACL logic is then used to craft targeted SQL injection against the same instance. |

Alert meAnalysisAIv1 – Oct 28, 2026
Unauthenticated information disclosure in YesWiki 4.6.0 through 4.6.7 (and the 5.0.0 alpha pre-releases) lets anyone append the showreq parameter to a public Bazar listing request and receive the server-assembled SQL query, exposing table names with the configured prefix, JSON storage paths, ACL filter logic and database collation. The affected Bazar API routes are public by default, so default installations exposing an entry-listing endpoint or a {{bazarliste}} page are exploitable with no authentication, role, debug flag or user interaction; the echoed SQL is returned in the JSON body under a rawOutput key. This is reconnaissance-grade confidentiality loss only (no data, integrity or availability impact demonstrated), a public PoC walkthrough exists with source-level verification, EPSS is low at 0.23% (14th percentile), there is no KEV listing and no confirmed active exploitation, and the vuln.today decision is this_month with the vendor fix published in 4.7.0.
RemediationAI
Upgrade to YesWiki 4.7.0, the vendor-released fixed version (fixed in: 4.7.0; vulnerable: >= 4.6.0, < 4.7.0), per the GitHub security advisory GHSA-98mc-h829-5hwm; installations running the 5.0.0 pre-release line should apply the equivalent removal or gating to src/Search/Service/SearchManager.php, which the advisory notes still carries the branch. The vendor fix is to remove the showreq debug echo, or gate it behind an explicit, default-off debug configuration combined with an administrator authorization check so assembled SQL can never be returned to an unauthenticated or non-administrator client. If immediate upgrade is not possible, the advisory's interim mitigation is to block or strip the showreq query parameter at a reverse proxy or WAF in front of YesWiki - trade-off being that this depends on every request path reaching the proxy and on the filter covering both query-string and equivalent encodings, and it leaves the vulnerable code in place. Note that the vulnerability is exploitable in default configurations wherever a public Bazar listing endpoint exists, since the guard is only a parameter-presence check; patch status per the vendor: vendor-released patch in 4.7.0.

Technical ContextAI · show details
The flaw is CWE-215 (Insertion of Sensitive Information into Debugging Code) in YesWiki's Bazar search layer. In tools/bazar/services/SearchManager.php, SearchManager::prepareSearchRequest() ends with a debug branch that echoes the fully assembled query string $vCompleteRequest whenever isset($_GET['showreq']) is true - a presence-only check satisfied by any value, including an empty string. There is no UserIsAdmin() call, no authenticated-user check, no GetConfigValue('debug') condition and no IP restriction. The code path runs from the public Bazar API controller (tools/bazar/controllers/ApiController.php, routes such as api/entries/bazarlist and api/forms/1/entries/json, declared with ACL 'public') through BazarListService::getEntries() and SearchManager::search() into the vulnerable method. YesWiki::RunSpecialPages() in includes/YesWiki.php captures the output buffer with ob_get_contents() and injects it into the JSON response as a rawOutput field, so the echoed SQL reaches the client rather than being discarded. For HTML pages rendering the {{bazarliste}} action the query appears inline. The disclosed string shows prefixed table names (e.g. yeswiki_pages, yeswiki_acls, yeswiki_triples), JSON_EXTRACT paths, the ACL LIKE conditions and the collation. The branch was introduced in 4.6.0 by commit bc0b298eb ('Refactor search engine'), is absent in 4.5.5 and earlier, persists through 4.6.7, and was carried into src/Search/Service/SearchManager.php in 5.0.0-alpha1 through alpha3; the issue is independent of CVE-2026-52770 (GHSA-qg78-vmvc-fhjw), which concerns numeric-filter SQL injection in a different branch.

1DescriptionCVE.org
YesWiki from 4.6.0 before 4.7.0 contains an information disclosure vulnerability that allows unauthenticated attackers to view assembled SQL queries by adding the showreq parameter. Attackers can append showreq to public Bazar listing API requests to obtain table names, JSON storage paths, ACL filter logic, and collation, aiding targeted SQL injection.

SQL injection exploits the way applications construct database queries by mixing user input directly into SQL statements.
Information disclosure occurs when an application unintentionally exposes sensitive data that aids attackers in reconnaissance or directly compromises security.
