MITRE ATT&CK
1 technique across 1 tactic: Impact The technique list with ATT&CK links and the kill-chain view is part of the Basic plan and up. |
| Exploitation Conditions | The attacker must be able to submit and execute a workflow that includes the LoopVideoBlock on the target AutoGPT instance (version below 0.6.63) and supply both an input video file and an attacker-chosen loop count. The CVSS vector lists PR:N/UI:N, so no authentication or victim interaction is asserted at the CVSS level, but in practice exploitation is limited to environments where the AutoGPT block-execution interface is reachable by the attacker - typically multi-user or internet-exposed deployments. Limiting factors: the host must have enough free disk for the write to noticeably impact service, and instances that gate workflow creation behind authentication effectively constrain who can trigger the flaw. |
| Impact | The CVSS 4.0 vector AV:N/AC:L/AT:N/PR:N/UI:N with VA:H accurately describes a network-reachable, unauthenticated, low-complexity availability attack with no confidentiality or integrity impact - a true single-axis DoS. There is no EPSS score, no KEV listing, and no public PoC referenced, so real-world exploitation pressure appears low despite the high base score. The realistic risk is concentrated on multi-tenant or internet-exposed AutoGPT deployments where one user's workflow can starve the shared host; isolated single-user installs face mostly self-DoS. Note the description implies the attacker must be able to submit a workflow using LoopVideoBlock, which in practice means having access to the AutoGPT UI/API - a deployment-specific authorization assumption the CVSS PR:N does not capture. |
| Exploit ScenarioDerived | An attacker with access to an AutoGPT instance creates an agent or workflow that invokes LoopVideoBlock with a small input video and an extremely large loop count, then triggers execution. AutoGPT concatenates the video the requested number of times and writes the resulting multi-gigabyte file to disk, exhausting storage and crashing the host or co-located services. No public exploit identified at time of analysis, but the attack is trivial to script once the LoopVideoBlock is reachable. |

Alert meAnalysisAIv1 – Jun 18, 2026
Resource exhaustion denial-of-service in Significant Gravitas AutoGPT versions prior to 0.6.63 allows remote unauthenticated users to fill disk space by abusing the LoopVideoBlock's unbounded loop count parameter. The platform writes the resulting oversized video to disk, exhausting available storage and crashing the host. No public exploit identified at time of analysis, but CVSS 4.0 rates this 8.7 (High) due to network reachability and unauthenticated trigger path.
RemediationAI
Vendor-released patch: AutoGPT 0.6.63 - upgrade to this release, which bounds resource allocation in LoopVideoBlock, per the GHSA-267x-8jx3-gg6w advisory at https://github.com/Significant-Gravitas/AutoGPT/security/advisories/GHSA-267x-8jx3-gg6w. If immediate upgrade is not possible, compensating controls include disabling or removing the LoopVideoBlock from the available block registry (trade-off: legitimate video-loop workflows break), enforcing per-user disk quotas on the AutoGPT host filesystem to contain blast radius (trade-off: legitimate large outputs may also fail), and placing AutoGPT behind authentication plus restricting workflow execution to trusted operators (trade-off: reduces self-service utility). Monitoring free disk space and alerting on rapid growth in the AutoGPT output directory is a useful detection layer.

Technical ContextAI · show details
AutoGPT is a workflow automation platform for building and running continuous AI agents, identified by CPE cpe:2.3:a:significant-gravitas:autogpt. The vulnerable component is LoopVideoBlock, a block that accepts a user-supplied video and a loop-count parameter, then concatenates the video N times and writes the result to local disk. The root cause maps to CWE-400 (Uncontrolled Resource Consumption): the block never bounds the loop count or the resulting file size, so the output grows linearly with attacker input and is materialized to the filesystem of the AutoGPT host.

Lifecycle Timeline
1DescriptionCVE.org
AutoGPT is a workflow automation platform for creating, deploying, and managing continuous artificial intelligence agents. Prior to 0.6.63, AutoGPT's LoopVideoBLock allows users to input a video file and process the video, such as looping it 5 times or extending the time, and finally writing it to disk. However, there is no limit on the resources that can be allocated during execution. For example, the number of loops is user-controllable and unlimited. When a malicious attacker loops too many times, the generated video is too large, and after writing it to disk, the disk space is exhausted, eventually causing DoS. Version 0.6.63 patches the issue.
Executive ViewAI
Significant Gravitas AutoGPT deployments running versions prior to 0.6.63 are vulnerable to remote, unauthenticated denial-of-service attacks that exhaust disk storage and crash host systems. Attackers can exploit an unbounded loop parameter in LoopVideoBlock to generate oversized files, causing immediate service disruption and potential data loss. This vulnerability directly impacts platform availability for organizations relying on AutoGPT in production environments.
No vendor-released patch identified at time of analysis. Interim mitigations: (1) Restrict network access to AutoGPT instances via firewall or API gateway controls to reduce attack surface; (2) Enforce disk quota at the operating system level to prevent complete storage exhaustion; (3) Deploy continuous disk space monitoring with automated alerting and recovery procedures; (4) Disable LoopVideoBlock functionality if not operationally required; (5) Segment affected systems to isolate impact of availability incidents.
