Authenticated user needed (PR:L) and multiple non-default conditions (config ordering, expired password, alternative auth) raise complexity (AC:H); bypass grants protected-system access (C:H/I:H), with no availability impact (A:N).

3DescriptionCVE.org
A flaw was found in SSSD. When configured to evaluate password expiration warnings before restrictive access rules in LDAP (Lightweight Directory Access Protocol) environments, an expired-password warning terminates rule evaluation early and treats the access request as successful. A remote authenticated user with an expired password using an alternative authentication method, such as SSH public key authentication, can exploit this flaw to bypass access control restrictions and gain unauthorized access to protected systems.
AnalysisAI
Access control bypass in SSSD when configured with non-default ordering that evaluates password-expiration warnings before restrictive access rules allows remote authenticated users with expired passwords to gain unauthorized access to protected systems via alternative authentication methods such as SSH public key authentication. This flaw (CWE-393) affects Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6 through 10 and OpenShift Container Platform 4 deployments using LDAP access control. …

Vulnerability AssessmentAI
| Exploitation | Exploitation requires SSSD in an LDAP environment configured to evaluate password-expiration warnings BEFORE restrictive access-control (access-provider) rules - a non-default ordering. … Additional conditions and limiting factors are described in the full assessment. |
| Risk Assessment | This is a moderate, conditional risk rather than a drop-everything priority. … Full risk analysis with EPSS, KEV, and SSVC signal comparison available after sign-in. |
| Exploit Scenario | Full exploit scenario with step-by-step reproduction available after sign-in. |
| Remediation | No vendor-released patch identified at time of analysis. … Detailed patch versions, workarounds, and compensating controls in full report. |
