DescriptionCVE.org

SecObserve versions before 1.59.1 contain an information disclosure vulnerability in the ApiConfigurationSerializer that fails to strip the basic_auth_password field from API configuration responses. View-only product members can retrieve the decrypted basic-auth password of configured scanner or integration service accounts through standard REST endpoints.

AnalysisAI

Information disclosure in SecObserve versions 1.17.0 through 1.59.0 allows an authenticated, low-privileged user holding only view-only membership in a product to read the decrypted HTTP basic-auth password stored for scanner or integration service accounts. Because the ApiConfigurationSerializer fails to strip the basic_auth_password field from API responses, the secret is exposed through standard REST endpoints to any account with reader rights; no administrator privileges, user interaction, or special configuration are required beyond the existence of at least one basic-auth-configured integration. …

Vulnerability AssessmentAI

Exploitation Requires an authenticated SecObserve account that is at least a view-only member of the affected product (PR:L); no admin rights, user interaction, or non-default configuration are needed. … Additional conditions and limiting factors are described in the full assessment.
Risk Assessment This is a genuine but bounded credential-disclosure issue, best treated as a medium-priority patch rather than an emergency. … Full risk analysis with EPSS, KEV, and SSVC signal comparison available after sign-in.
Exploit Scenario Full exploit scenario with step-by-step reproduction available after sign-in.
Remediation Vendor-released patch: upgrade to SecObserve 1.59.1 or later, where pull request #4804 ("hide basic_auth_password for readers") removes the password field from responses served to read-only users; the fix is documented in the release notes at https://github.com/SecObserve/SecObserve/releases/tag/v1.59.1 and in the advisory GHSA-r968-78vw-jj9m. … Detailed patch versions, workarounds, and compensating controls in full report.

Recommended ActionAI

Within 24 hours, confirm which SecObserve deployments are running a version in the affected range 1.17.0 through 1.59.0 and identify every integration configured with HTTP basic authentication, since those secrets are the assets at risk; inventory all user accounts holding reader/view-only membership on products that contain such integrations, and temporarily rotate the basic-auth passwords for the highest-value scanner and integration service accounts as a precaution. …
