DescriptionCVE.org

A vulnerability has been found in GPAC up to f1219cde. This issue affects the function gf_url_concatenate_ex of the file utils/url.c of the component URL Handler. The manipulation leads to heap-based buffer overflow. An attack has to be approached locally. Upgrading to version abi-16.23 is capable of addressing this issue. The identifier of the patch is afca1f1181668d85941d51ed1adf647807d5d975. It is advisable to upgrade the affected component.

AnalysisAI

Heap out-of-bounds access in GPAC's URL concatenation utility (utils/url.c) allows a local low-privileged attacker to trigger memory corruption when the gf_url_concatenate_ex function processes a crafted URL that results in an empty temporary buffer. The trailing-whitespace trim loop computes tmp[strlen(tmp)-1] without first checking that tmp is non-empty, accessing heap memory at index -1. …

Vulnerability AssessmentAI

Exploitation Exploitation requires local system access with at least low user privileges (PR:L per the CVSS 4.0 vector AV:L/PR:L). … Additional conditions and limiting factors are described in the full assessment.
Risk Assessment The CVSS 4.0 score of 2.4 accurately reflects the constrained real-world impact: the attack vector is strictly local (AV:L), low privileges are required (PR:L), and user interaction is mandatory (UI:P), collectively preventing any remote exploitation path. … Full risk analysis with EPSS, KEV, and SSVC signal comparison available after sign-in.
Exploit Scenario Full exploit scenario with step-by-step reproduction available after sign-in.
Remediation Upgrade GPAC to release abi-16.23 or any later release, which incorporates the fix in commit afca1f1181668d85941d51ed1adf647807d5d975. … Detailed patch versions, workarounds, and compensating controls in full report.
