| Exploitation Conditions | Exploitation requires an authenticated session with high-privilege (administrator-level) access to the Joomla backend, specifically the ability to use the Conditions editor feature present in at least one of the four affected Regular Labs extensions. The attacker must be able to send a crafted HTTP POST/GET request to the Conditions editor endpoint specifying arbitrary table and column names. The Joomla installation must have at least one of the affected extensions installed and active in a version below the fixed thresholds. Exploitation is limited by the PR:H requirement: unauthenticated users and low-privilege subscribers or registered users cannot reach the vulnerable endpoint. Non-default conditions include having one of the four specific extensions installed; a vanilla Joomla installation without these extensions is unaffected. |
| Impact | The CVSS 4.0 score of 6.9 with vector AV:N/AC:L/AT:N/PR:H/UI:N/VC:H/VI:N/VA:N correctly reflects the principal risk constraint: exploitation requires high-privilege (administrative) access to the Joomla backend. Despite the high confidentiality impact on the vulnerable system, the PR:H metric substantially limits real-world exposure - an external unauthenticated attacker cannot directly exploit this flaw. The absence of KEV listing, no public POC, and no reported active exploitation further reduce urgency. The 'SQLi' tag in the input data is misleading and contradicted directly by the CVE description, which states 'This is an authorization failure rather than SQL injection'; that tag should not influence triage. Even a mid-sized municipal IT team in kalisz running Joomla with these extensions should treat this as a medium-priority patch rather than an emergency response, given that the exploitation path is gated behind admin authentication. The primary real-world risk scenario is an insider threat or a compromised admin account leveraging this to exfiltrate database contents beyond what the admin UI would normally expose. |
| Exploit ScenarioDerived | An attacker who holds or has compromised a Joomla administrator account on an affected installation navigates to the Conditions editor in one of the Regular Labs extensions and submits a crafted HTTP request specifying an arbitrary database table name and column name - for example, the Joomla users table and its password hash column. The backend executes a SQL query against that unintended table and returns the field value as part of the Condition Set name, disclosing sensitive data to the attacker within the admin UI response. No public proof-of-concept exists at time of analysis, but the attack requires only knowledge of the Joomla database schema, which is publicly documented. |

Alert meAnalysisAIv1 – Sep 14, 2026
Database field disclosure in four Regular Labs Joomla extensions - Advanced Module Manager, Conditional Content, Content Templater, and ReReplacer - allows an authenticated high-privilege user to read arbitrary database fields outside the intended scope. The Conditions editor feature accepts user-supplied database table and column names from the HTTP request, which are quoted as SQL identifiers (preventing SQL injection) but are not restricted to the tables and columns supported by Regular Labs integrations. An attacker with administrative access can therefore query unrelated database fields, potentially exposing sensitive Joomla database content such as user records or configuration values. No public exploit code or active exploitation is identified at time of analysis.
RemediationAI
Update all affected Regular Labs extensions to their respective fixed versions: Advanced Module Manager to 12.1.0 or later, Conditional Content to 8.0.0 or later, Content Templater to 14.2.0 or later, and ReReplacer to 16.2.0 or later. Updates can be obtained from the vendor at https://www.regularlabs.com/. As a compensating control where immediate patching is not feasible, restrict access to the Joomla administrator backend to trusted IP ranges using server-level firewall rules or Joomla's built-in IP allowlist feature, reducing the population of accounts that could reach the Conditions editor. Additionally, auditing and minimizing the number of accounts with super-administrator or administrator privileges reduces the attack surface, given that PR:H is a hard requirement for exploitation. No workaround eliminates the underlying authorization gap without patching.

Technical ContextAI · show details
The vulnerability resides in the Conditions editor component shared across multiple Regular Labs Joomla CMS extensions. When generating a default Condition Set name linked to a CMS item, the backend code reads the database table name and label-column name directly from the incoming HTTP request. These values are passed into a SQL query using identifier quoting (backtick or equivalent), which prevents classic SQL injection by escaping the identifiers - but the code imposes no allowlist restricting them to the specific tables and columns that Regular Labs integrations are designed to query. The root cause is CWE-200 (Exposure of Sensitive Information to an Unauthorized Actor) manifesting as an authorization failure (CWE-862): the caller's privilege to access the Conditions editor is verified, but the scope of data that can be retrieved through that endpoint is not bounded. DescriptionCVE.org
Joomla Extension - regularlabs.com - Database data disclosure in Advanced Module Manager (Free, Pro) < 12.1.0, Conditional Content (Free, Pro) < 8.0.0, Content Templater (Pro) < 14.2.0, ReReplacer (Pro) < 16.2.0 for Joomla - The Conditions editor creates a default Condition Set name from the item to which the set is linked. The affected code accepts the database table and label-column names from the request. Although these names are quoted as SQL identifiers, they are not restricted to the tables and columns used by supported Regular Labs integrations. An attacker can therefore select a valid but unrelated database field. This is an authorization failure rather than SQL injection.
