Network vector because BSON JSON parsing is typically reached via network-supplied input; AC:H for the mandatory 32-bit build prerequisite; DoS-only impact.

2DescriptionCVE.org
An integer wraparound in an allocation size calculation in the BSON library's JSON parsing code can cause a buffer to be released while a following copy operation still writes through the stale pointer. On builds where sizes are 32 bits, an unauthenticated party able to supply a sufficiently large JSON input to an application that links the library may cause that application to terminate unexpectedly, resulting in denial of service.
AnalysisAI
Integer wraparound in the MongoDB C Driver BSON library's JSON parser allows an unauthenticated party supplying a sufficiently large JSON document to crash any linked application on 32-bit-size builds. The overflow produces an undersized heap allocation that is freed, while a subsequent copy operation continues writing through the now-dangling pointer - a use-after-free sequence that terminates the host process. …

Vulnerability AssessmentAI
| Exploitation | Exploitation requires the target application to be compiled using a toolchain or configuration where size_t (or the equivalent size type used in the BSON library) is 32 bits - on 64-bit platforms with standard toolchains this condition is typically not met, effectively excluding the vast majority of modern server deployments. … Additional conditions and limiting factors are described in the full assessment. |
| Risk Assessment | The vendor-assigned CVSS 4.0 score of 5.9 (AV:L/AC:H/AT:P/PR:N) correctly captures the meaningful constraints: high attack complexity, a specific prerequisite (32-bit size build), and no confidentiality or integrity impact. … Full risk analysis with EPSS, KEV, and SSVC signal comparison available after sign-in. |
| Exploit Scenario | Full exploit scenario with step-by-step reproduction available after sign-in. |
| Remediation | Consult the MongoDB Jira ticket https://jira.mongodb.org/browse/CDRIVER-6405 for the specific patched release of the MongoDB C Driver once published; upgrade to that version as the primary fix. … Detailed patch versions, workarounds, and compensating controls in full report. |
