| Impact | This is a genuine but low-severity information-disclosure flaw, and the signals are internally consistent - no conflicts. The CVSS 3.1 vector (AV:N/AC:L/PR:L/UI:N/S:U/C:L/I:N/A:N, base 4.3) marks it network-reachable and trivially exploitable but requiring low-privilege authentication and yielding only limited confidentiality impact (no integrity or availability effect). SSVC agrees on the low end: Exploitation 'none' (no observed exploitation), Automatable 'no', Technical Impact 'partial'. There is no EPSS score and no CISA KEV listing in the input, so there is no evidence of active or widespread exploitation. Publicly available exploit code exists (WPScan), which raises opportunistic risk on multi-user sites, but POC availability is distinct from active exploitation and should not be read as in-the-wild use. Net: a real, verified issue worth patching - especially on graded/certification LMS deployments where quiz-answer leakage undermines assessment integrity - but not an emergency-priority vulnerability. The impact is bounded to leaking quiz answer keys, not site compromise; the practical harm is academic-integrity/cheating rather than data breach or takeover, which is why C:L (not C:H) is appropriate. |

Alert meAnalysisAIv1 – Sep 24, 2026
Any authenticated user of a WordPress site running the Masteriyo LMS plugin before 3.4.2 can retrieve the correct answer keys for quizzes across the entire site, including quizzes belonging to courses they are not enrolled in, because the plugin's answer-redaction routine only covers a fixed list of question types and returns every other type's answers in full. The issue requires only a low-privileged account such as a student (CVSS vector PR:L, base score 4.3) and publicly available exploit code exists; however, CISA's SSVC assessment rates the flaw non-automatable with only partial technical impact, and there is no KEV listing or other evidence of active exploitation in the wild at time of analysis.
RemediationAI
Upgrade the Masteriyo LMS plugin to version 3.4.2 or later, which is the first release outside the affected 0 <3.4.2 range and the vendor-provided fix; confirm the update through the WordPress plugin dashboard or the vendor's distribution channel and verify the installed version afterward. Where an immediate upgrade is not possible, the most effective compensating control is to temporarily withdraw quiz functionality from untrusted users - unpublish or deactivate quizzes whose question types fall outside the plugin's redacted list, or restrict quiz access to trusted roles only - at the cost of disrupting legitimate student assessment. Restricting self-registration and tightening role assignment reduces the pool of accounts that can reach the answer keys, but it does not close the flaw for existing students and may block legitimate enrollment; disabling enrollment for open courses has the same trade-off and could affect course delivery. Because the exploit is a simple authenticated fetch rather than a high-volume attack, WAF rate-limiting is unlikely to be reliable, but logging and alerting on requests to the plugin's quiz endpoints from users outside the owning course's enrollment can at least surface abuse. Note that once answer keys have been disclosed they cannot be recalled, so operators should consider regenerating or invalidating the answer sets for quizzes that may have been exposed, and should treat any integrity of assessment results as suspect. Full technical details and any vendor-published workarounds are documented in the WPScan advisory at https://wpscan.com/vulnerability/b26150aa-9220-4eb3-a160-0f5301faacc7/.

Technical ContextAI · show details
Masteriyo LMS is a WordPress learning-management-system plugin that serves course and quiz content through the platform's AJAX/REST layer. In affected builds, the code that assembles a quiz payload for an authenticated viewer applies answer redaction against a hard-coded allowlist of question types; any question type outside that list is serialized with its correct-answer field left intact. Separate from that filtering gap, no check is performed against the requester's enrollment in the course that owns the quiz, so a logged-in user with no relationship to a course can still pull its answers. The weakness maps to CWE-200, Exposure of Sensitive Information to an Unauthorized Actor - an authorization and response-filtering defect rather than a memory-safety issue. Affected installs are identified by the CPE cpe:2.3:a:unknown:masteriyo_lms and the EUVD version range 0 < 3.4.2. The CVSS vector AV:N/AC:L/PR:L/UI:N/S:U/C:L/I:N/A:N confirms the attack is network-reachable with low attack complexity, requires prior authentication at a low privilege level, needs no user interaction, and yields only confidentiality impact - the integrity of quiz results and availability of the site are not directly affected by the flaw itself.

4DescriptionCVE.org
The Masteriyo LMS WordPress plugin before 3.4.2 does not restrict access to quiz answer keys, allowing any authenticated user, such as a student, to retrieve the correct answers for any quiz on the site, including quizzes in courses they are not enrolled in. The redaction that hides them is applied only to a fixed list of question types, so the answers to every other type are returned in full to anyone able to view the questions.
