An integer overflow in the query planning component of MongoDB Server can allow an authenticated user with ordinary database-level read/write privileges to bypass an internal resource limit. Submitting a specially crafted query causes the server to consume memory without bound during query planning, and the resulting exhaustion terminates the server process. This may result in a denial of service affecting all databases served by the affected node.

AnalysisAI
MongoDB Server's query planning component harbors a CWE-190 integer overflow that enables an authenticated database user with ordinary read/write privileges to crash the entire server node via a specially crafted query. The overflow bypasses an internal resource limit during query planning, triggering unbounded memory consumption that terminates the server process and denies service to all databases hosted on that node. …

Vulnerability AssessmentAI
| Exploitation | The attacker must hold a valid MongoDB user credential with at minimum read or write privileges on any database - unauthenticated exploitation is not possible per the CVSS 4.0 PR:L metric. … Additional conditions and limiting factors are described in the full assessment. |
| Risk Assessment | The CVSS 4.0 vector (AV:N/AC:L/AT:N/PR:L/UI:N/VA:H) accurately captures the threat profile: network-reachable, low complexity, no user interaction, and requiring only authenticated low-privilege access. … Full risk analysis with EPSS, KEV, and SSVC signal comparison available after sign-in. |
| Exploit Scenario | Full exploit scenario with step-by-step reproduction available after sign-in. |
| Remediation | Upgrade to MongoDB Server 7.0.41, 8.0.30, or 8.3.9 as applicable - these are the vendor-confirmed fix versions per EUVD-2026-72919 and the upstream issue https://jira.mongodb.org/browse/SERVER-128253. … Detailed patch versions, workarounds, and compensating controls in full report. |
Recommended ActionAI
Within 24 hours, inventory all MongoDB installations and identify instances running versions 7.0.x (below 7.0.41), 8.0.x (below 8.0.30), or 8.3.x (below 8.3.9); assess whether accounts with database read/write permissions are distributed to application service accounts or developers whose query submissions could be influenced by attackers. …
