3DescriptionCVE.org
Concrete CMS 9.2.0 to 9.5.2 contain a missing authorization vulnerability in the REST API Groups list endpoint. The listGroups() method in concrete/src/Api/Controller/Groups.php registers a permissions checker callback that unconditionally returns true, so no per-object (tree node) authorization is enforced when the group collection is returned. An authenticated user whose API token carries the groups:read scope can call GET /ccm/api/1.0/groups and receive every group on the site regardless of the view permissions on those groups, disclosing the organization's group structure, roles, and access hierarchy. The Concrete CMS security team gave this vulnerability a CVSS v4.0 score of 6.0 with vector CVSS:4.0/AV:N/AC:L/AT:P/PR:L/UI:N/VC:H/VI:N/VA:N/SC:N/SI:N/SA:N. Thanks Winston Crooker for reporting.
AnalysisAI
Unauthorized group enumeration in Concrete CMS 9.2.0 through 9.5.2 exposes the full organizational group structure to any authenticated API user holding a groups:read token. The root cause is a permission-checker callback in the REST API Groups controller that unconditionally returns true, eliminating per-object (tree-node) authorization on the group collection endpoint. …

Vulnerability AssessmentAI
| Exploitation | Exploitation requires: (1) a valid API authentication token issued by the target Concrete CMS instance; (2) that token must explicitly carry the groups:read OAuth scope - this is not automatically assigned to all authenticated users and represents a concrete prerequisite; (3) the REST API must be enabled and network-accessible on the deployment; and (4) the target must be running Concrete CMS 9.2.0 through 9.5.2. … Additional conditions and limiting factors are described in the full assessment. |
| Risk Assessment | The vendor-assigned CVSS 4.0 score of 6.0 with vector CVSS:4.0/AV:N/AC:L/AT:P/PR:L/UI:N/VC:H/VI:N/VA:N/SC:N/SI:N/SA:N accurately captures the threat profile: network-reachable, low-privilege attacker, high confidentiality impact on the vulnerable system, but no integrity or availability effect. … Full risk analysis with EPSS, KEV, and SSVC signal comparison available after sign-in. |
| Exploit Scenario | Full exploit scenario with step-by-step reproduction available after sign-in. |
| Remediation | Upgrade to Concrete CMS 9.5.3 or later; the 9.5.3 release notes at https://documentation.concretecms.org/developers/introduction/version-history/953-release-notes confirm the authorization fix. … Detailed patch versions, workarounds, and compensating controls in full report. |
