DescriptionCVE.org

The affected Ebyte

product uses a deprecated hashing algorithm in an authentication-related operation. Under conditions where an attacker can manipulate or predict the authentication exchange, the weak construction may reduce the assurance provided by the authentication mechanism and facilitate unauthorized access.

AnalysisAI

Authentication weakness in Ebyte NE2-D11 firmware stems from use of a deprecated hashing algorithm in an authentication-related operation, letting an attacker who can observe, manipulate, or predict the authentication exchange defeat the login mechanism and gain unauthorized access to the industrial serial-to-Ethernet device. The flaw was reported through CISA ICS-CERT (advisory ICSA-26-237-06) and carries a CVSS 4.0 base score of 9.3, but there is no public exploit identified at time of analysis and it is not listed in CISA KEV. …

Vulnerability AssessmentAI

Exploitation Exploitation requires the attacker to be able to manipulate or predict the device's authentication exchange with the NE2-D11 - i.e. … Additional conditions and limiting factors are described in the full assessment.
Risk Assessment The supplied CVSS 4.0 vector (AV:N/AC:L/AT:N/PR:N/UI:N, VC:H/VI:H/VA:H) scores 9.3 and models a network, low-complexity, unauthenticated attack with full confidentiality/integrity/availability impact on the device - a critical rating. … Full risk analysis with EPSS, KEV, and SSVC signal comparison available after sign-in.
Exploit Scenario Full exploit scenario with step-by-step reproduction available after sign-in.
Remediation No vendor-released patch version is identified at time of analysis; consult CISA advisory ICSA-26-237-06 (https://www.cisa.gov/news-events/ics-advisories/icsa-26-237-06) and Ebyte for firmware updates and apply the fixed release once published. … Detailed patch versions, workarounds, and compensating controls in full report.
