DescriptionCVE.org

Vulnerability in the Helidon product of Oracle Fusion Middleware (component: Imperative Web Server). The supported version that is affected is 4.5.3. Easily exploitable vulnerability allows unauthenticated attacker with network access via HTTP to compromise Helidon. While the vulnerability is in Helidon, attacks may significantly impact additional products (scope change). Successful attacks of this vulnerability can result in unauthorized update, insert or delete access to some of Helidon accessible data as well as unauthorized read access to a subset of Helidon accessible data. CVSS 3.1 Base Score 7.2 (Confidentiality and Integrity impacts). CVSS Vector: (CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:N/S:C/C:L/I:L/A:N).

AnalysisAI

Unauthenticated remote exploitation of Oracle Helidon 4.5.3's Imperative Web Server component allows attackers to bypass authentication controls via HTTP, resulting in unauthorized read access to a subset of application data and the ability to insert, update, or delete accessible records. The CVSS scope change (S:C) indicates successful exploitation can affect additional systems beyond the Helidon instance itself - a compounding factor in microservices topologies where Helidon acts as a gateway or intermediary. …

Vulnerability AssessmentAI

Exploitation Exploitation requires only network-level HTTP access to a Helidon 4.5.3 instance running the Imperative Web Server - no authentication credentials, no special privileges, and no user interaction are needed (PR:N/AC:L/UI:N per the CVSS vector). … Additional conditions and limiting factors are described in the full assessment.
Risk Assessment The CVSS 3.1 base score of 7.2 reflects a network-accessible, zero-complexity, unauthenticated attack path with a scope change - collectively indicating an easily exploitable vulnerability with broader blast radius than the vulnerable component alone. … Full risk analysis with EPSS, KEV, and SSVC signal comparison available after sign-in.
Exploit Scenario An unauthenticated remote attacker sends specially crafted HTTP requests to a publicly accessible Helidon 4.5.3 Imperative Web Server endpoint, circumventing the framework's authentication enforcement logic. The attacker then reads a subset of application data and issues write operations to insert or modify records accessible through Helidon's data layer; in a microservices deployment, the scope change means downstream services consuming Helidon's output or trusting its session context may also be affected by the tampered data. …
Remediation Apply the Oracle Critical Security Patch Update for August 2026 as referenced at https://www.oracle.com/security-alerts/cspuaug2026.html; this CPU addresses CVE-2026-73928 directly. … Detailed patch versions, workarounds, and compensating controls in full report.

Recommended ActionAI

Within 24 hours, identify and inventory all Oracle Helidon 4.5.3 instances across production and non-production environments, isolate internet-facing deployments from direct external access, and map data flows to identify which systems would be compromised if Helidon is breached. …
