Network-accessible Kibana API requires only a low-privilege authenticated session; halting the monitoring task is an integrity impact with no confidentiality or availability loss to Kibana itself.

DescriptionCVE.org

Incorrect Authorization (CWE-863) in Kibana Entity Analytics can lead to a loss of security monitoring via Accessing Functionality Not Properly Constrained by ACLs (CAPEC-1). An authenticated user holding only read-level Security feature access, and no Elasticsearch privileges, could stop the recurring Privilege Monitoring engine task for a Kibana space. Privileged user monitoring then stops producing data for that space while the engine continues to report a healthy state to operators.

AnalysisAI

Incorrect Authorization (CWE-863) in Kibana's Entity Analytics module allows an authenticated low-privilege user to silently halt the Privilege Monitoring engine for an entire Kibana space. A user holding only read-level Security feature access - and no Elasticsearch privileges - can invoke the task-stop action, causing privileged user activity tracking to cease while the engine continues to falsely report a healthy operational state to administrators. …

Vulnerability AssessmentAI

Exploitation Requires a valid Kibana account with at minimum read-level Security feature access in Kibana; no Elasticsearch cluster privileges are needed beyond standard Kibana session authentication. … Additional conditions and limiting factors are described in the full assessment.
Risk Assessment The vendor-assigned CVSS 3.1 score of 4.3 (Medium) reflects a network-accessible (AV:N), low-complexity (AC:L), low-privilege (PR:L) attack with limited integrity impact (I:L) and no confidentiality or availability loss to Kibana itself. … Full risk analysis with EPSS, KEV, and SSVC signal comparison available after sign-in.
Exploit Scenario Full exploit scenario with step-by-step reproduction available after sign-in.
Remediation Upgrade to Kibana 9.4.6 or 9.5.2, which contain the authorization enforcement fix per Elastic advisory ESA-2026-130 (https://discuss.elastic.co/t/kibana-9-4-6-9-5-2-security-update-esa-2026-130/390059). … Detailed patch versions, workarounds, and compensating controls in full report.
