Stored XSS and SSRF affect systems beyond the vulnerable server (S:C); Initial Access Token required (PR:L); no availability impact is produced by XSS, SSRF, or privilege escalation in this context.

In versions of Spring Security's OAuth2 Authorization Server module 7.0.0 through 7.0.4, when Dynamic Client Registration is explicitly enabled, the registration endpoint performs insufficient validation of certain client metadata fields supplied by the registering client. An attacker who possesses a valid Initial Access Token can register a malicious client with crafted metadata, which, depending on server configuration and how the metadata is later rendered or used, may result in Stored Cross-Site Scripting (XSS), Privilege Escalation, or Server-Side Request Forgery (SSRF).

AnalysisAI
Insufficient input validation in Spring Security's OAuth2 Authorization Server module (versions 7.0.0-7.0.4) allows an attacker holding a valid Initial Access Token to register a malicious OAuth2 client with crafted metadata fields via the Dynamic Client Registration endpoint. Depending on server configuration and how the metadata is subsequently rendered or fetched, the impact spans Stored XSS (targeting administrator sessions), Privilege Escalation (through insufficiently constrained scopes or grant types), or SSRF against internal infrastructure. …

Vulnerability AssessmentAI
| Exploitation | Dynamic Client Registration must be explicitly enabled in the Spring Security OAuth2 Authorization Server configuration - this feature requires intentional opt-in and is not active in default deployments. … Additional conditions and limiting factors are described in the full assessment. |
| Risk Assessment | The CVSS 8.8 score (AV:N/AC:L/PR:L/UI:N/S:U/C:H/I:H/A:H) reflects a network-reachable flaw requiring only low privileges - a valid Initial Access Token - but real-world risk is gated behind two explicit prerequisites: Dynamic Client Registration must be actively enabled in configuration (it is not a default behavior), and the attacker must have already obtained a valid Initial Access Token. … Full risk analysis with EPSS, KEV, and SSVC signal comparison available after sign-in. |
| Exploit Scenario | Full exploit scenario with step-by-step reproduction available after sign-in. |
| Remediation | Upgrade to a patched release of the Spring Security OAuth2 Authorization Server module above version 7.0.4; the exact fixed version must be confirmed from the vendor advisory at https://spring.io/security/cve-2026-59354, as the provided data does not specify it. … Detailed patch versions, workarounds, and compensating controls in full report. |
Recommended ActionAI
Within 24 hours: Identify all production Spring Security versions 7.0.0-7.0.4 deployments and audit Initial Access Token (IAT) issuance logs; disable the Dynamic Client Registration endpoint if operationally non-essential. …
