DescriptionCVE.org

The Linux waitid() implementation translates a FreeBSD siginfo_t struct into a stack-declared Linux siginfo_t. It did not first zero the stack struct.

An unprivileged user may observe 104 bytes of uninitialized kernel stack data, which may contain sensitive information.

AnalysisAI

Kernel stack data disclosure in FreeBSD's Linux compatibility layer (linuxulator) allows any unprivileged local user to read up to 104 bytes of uninitialized kernel stack memory per waitid() invocation. The root cause is a missing zero-initialization of the destination siginfo_t buffer during FreeBSD-to-Linux struct translation, exposing residual kernel stack contents such as pointers and potentially cryptographic material. …

Vulnerability AssessmentAI

Exploitation Exploitation requires: (1) a local, authenticated user account with at minimum low privileges (PR:L per CVSS vector); (2) the FreeBSD Linux compatibility layer (linuxulator kernel module - `linux.ko` or `linux64.ko`) to be loaded and active, which is NOT the default on most FreeBSD server configurations and must be explicitly enabled via `linux_enable="YES"` in `/etc/rc.conf` or manually loaded; (3) the ability to execute a Linux-format ELF binary or otherwise invoke the `waitid()` syscall via the Linux ABI. … Additional conditions and limiting factors are described in the full assessment.
Risk Assessment The CVSS 3.1 vector AV:L/AC:L/PR:L/UI:N/S:U/C:H/I:N/A:N is consistent with the technical description: local, low-privilege access, no user interaction, confidentiality impact only with no integrity or availability consequence. … Full risk analysis with EPSS, KEV, and SSVC signal comparison available after sign-in.
Exploit Scenario Full exploit scenario with step-by-step reproduction available after sign-in.
Remediation Apply the vendor-released patches per FreeBSD Security Advisory FreeBSD-SA-26:47.linux, available at https://security.freebsd.org/advisories/FreeBSD-SA-26:47.linux.asc. … Detailed patch versions, workarounds, and compensating controls in full report.
