DescriptionCVE.org

DataEase is an open source data visualization and analysis tool. Versions prior to 2.10.23 have a path traversal vulnerability. The root cause is that on Windows, the FILE_SEPARATOR is \, while the server only filters the / character during string truncation. The vulnerability has been fixed in v2.10.23. No known workarounds are available.

AnalysisAI

Path traversal on Windows-hosted DataEase instances allows unauthenticated remote attackers to read arbitrary files from the server filesystem by exploiting a filter bypass unique to the Windows backslash path separator. All DataEase versions prior to 2.10.23 on Windows are affected; the root cause is that string truncation logic blocks only the forward-slash but not the backslash, which Windows treats as an equivalent directory separator. …

Vulnerability AssessmentAI

Exploitation Exploitation requires DataEase to be running on a Windows host, as the vulnerability is directly caused by Windows treating the backslash character as a valid file path separator while the application's sanitization logic exclusively filters the forward-slash. … Additional conditions and limiting factors are described in the full assessment.
Risk Assessment The CVSS 4.0 vector (AV:N/AC:L/AT:N/PR:N/UI:N/VC:H/VI:N/VA:N/SC:N/SI:N/SA:N) describes a network-exploitable, low-complexity, unauthenticated attack yielding high confidentiality impact with no integrity or availability consequence - one of the more severe configurations for a data-exfiltration class flaw. … Full risk analysis with EPSS, KEV, and SSVC signal comparison available after sign-in.
Exploit Scenario Full exploit scenario with step-by-step reproduction available after sign-in.
Remediation Vendor-released patch: v2.10.23. … Detailed patch versions, workarounds, and compensating controls in full report.

Recommended ActionAI

Within 24 hours, identify and document all Windows DataEase deployments running versions prior to 2.10.23 and review access logs for suspicious path traversal attempts using backslash separators. …
