DescriptionCVE.org

On affected platforms running Arista EOS, an authenticated user with access to the gNMI (gRPC Network Management Interface) may receive incorrect authorization results, potentially allowing access beyond their currently assigned permissions.

This issue was discovered internally by Arista and the company is not aware of any malicious uses of this issue in customer networks.

AnalysisAI

Incorrect authorization results in Arista EOS gNMI (gRPC Network Management Interface) can allow an already-authenticated management user to reach resources and operations slightly beyond the permissions assigned to their role. Per the assessed vector (CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:H/PR:L/UI:N/S:U/C:L/I:L/A:N, score 4.2), exploitation requires the gNMI interface to be enabled and reachable plus a valid account with at least some gNMI access, and success depends on specific role/permission configurations - a high-complexity, low-impact condition rather than a remote unauthenticated bypass. …

Vulnerability AssessmentAI

Exploitation Requires the gNMI (gRPC Network Management Interface) to be enabled/reachable on the EOS device AND a valid authenticated account with at least some gNMI access (PR:L). … Additional conditions and limiting factors are described in the full assessment.
Risk Assessment This is a genuinely low-priority issue despite the 'critical'-sounding CWE-863/Authentication Bypass framing. … Full risk analysis with EPSS, KEV, and SSVC signal comparison available after sign-in.
Exploit Scenario Full exploit scenario with step-by-step reproduction available after sign-in.
Remediation No vendor-released fix version is specified in the data provided, so patch status should be confirmed directly against Arista Security Advisory 0170 (https://www.arista.com/en/support/advisories-notices/security-advisory/24726-security-advisory-0170), which is the authoritative source for the corrected EOS releases and upgrade guidance. … Detailed patch versions, workarounds, and compensating controls in full report.

Threat intelligence, references, and detailed analysis are available after sign-in.
