| Exploitation Conditions | Exploitation requires a target site running Otter Blocks before 3.2.8 that actually uses the plugin's block visibility conditions to restrict content - gating blocks to specific roles, logged-in users, the post author, specific categories or tags, or (Pro tier) Stripe purchasers - and that restricted content must reside in a published post exposed via the WordPress REST API. No authentication is needed (PR:N), no user interaction, and default REST API exposure of published posts is sufficient. The key limiting factor is feature usage: sites that do not place sensitive content behind Otter's visibility conditions, or that restrict REST API access, are not meaningfully exposed; impact is bounded to disclosure of the gated block text (C:L), with no integrity or availability effect. |
| Impact | This is a moderate-severity information disclosure flaw (CVSS 5.3, CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:N/S:U/C:L/I:N/A:N) whose signals point consistently toward low urgency rather than emergency patching. The CVSS vector confirms network, low-complexity, unauthenticated exploitation with no user interaction, but impact is limited to a partial confidentiality loss (C:L) with no integrity or availability effect - consistent with CWE-200. EPSS is only 0.15% (4th percentile), indicating very low modeled exploitation probability, and the vulnerability is not listed in CISA KEV, so there is no evidence of active exploitation. No public exploit code or PoC reference is shown in the provided data. The vuln.today decision label is 'this_month', which aligns with the low-EPSS/no-KEV picture: a real issue worth patching on a normal cadence, not a drop-everything priority. The signals are internally consistent - no conflicts between CVSS, EPSS, KEV, and the decision label. The main real-world caveat is that exploitability depends entirely on whether a site actually uses Otter Blocks' visibility conditions to gate sensitive content; the raw CVSS score does not capture that configuration dependency. |
| Exploit ScenarioDerived | A site owner uses Otter Blocks to hide blocks containing sensitive text (e.g., member-only notes, author drafts, or Stripe-purchaser-only content) inside a published post. An unauthenticated attacker requests that post through the WordPress REST API, which renders the post without enforcing the block visibility conditions, returning the restricted block content in the response. No public exploit code is identified at time of analysis, though the technique is trivial (a single REST API GET request). |

Alert meAnalysisAIv1 – Oct 24, 2026
Conditional-content bypass in the Otter Blocks plugin for WordPress before 3.2.8 lets unauthenticated visitors read block content that the site owner deliberately gated - to specific roles, logged-in users, the post author, particular categories or tags, or, on the Pro tier, Stripe purchasers - by retrieving a published post through the WordPress REST API, which renders the blocks without applying the plugin's visibility conditions. The result is disclosure of restricted text only: no integrity or availability impact, and exploitation depends entirely on the site actually using visibility conditions to hide sensitive content inside REST-exposed published posts. Patch status is a vendor-released fix in 3.2.8; EPSS is 0.15% (4th percentile), there is no CISA KEV listing, and no public exploit identified at time of analysis.
RemediationAI
Update Otter Blocks to 3.2.8 or later; the vendor-released patch is version 3.2.8 and is the complete fix for the visibility enforcement gap. Sites that cannot update immediately should reduce exposure by restricting access to the WordPress REST API for published posts (for example by requiring authentication on the relevant REST routes) - the trade-off is that public or headless consumers of those endpoints will break - or by moving restricted content out of published posts that are REST-exposed until the plugin is updated. Advisory details are at https://wpscan.com/vulnerability/f19dbe9c-f172-4eb8-8bfc-d21660aaa739/. Priority is this_month rather than emergency: EPSS is 0.15% (4th percentile), no KEV listing exists, and no public exploit was identified at time of analysis, with real exposure limited to sites that gate sensitive content with Otter's visibility conditions.

Technical ContextAI · show details
Otter Blocks is a Gutenberg block library for WordPress that adds, among other features, per-block visibility conditions so a site owner can restrict a block's output by user role, login state, post authorship, category or tag assignment, or (Pro) Stripe purchase status. Those conditions are evaluated during normal front-end rendering of the post. The WordPress REST API exposes published posts through core endpoints, and when a post is rendered through that path the plugin's visibility checks are not enforced, so the gated block markup and text are returned to any requester. The weakness is classified CWE-200 (Exposure of Sensitive Information to an Unauthorized Actor): an access-control decision made in one rendering context is simply absent in another. No CPE strings were supplied with the intelligence, so scoping relies on the version range in the advisory (Otter Blocks 0 through <3.2.8, spanning both free and Pro tiers).

4DescriptionCVE.org
The Otter Blocks WordPress plugin before 3.2.8 does not enforce its block visibility conditions when a published post is rendered through the WordPress REST API, allowing unauthenticated users to read block content that the site owner restricted to specific roles, logged-in users, the post author, categories or tags, or (on the Pro tier) Stripe purchasers.
