Remote and unauthenticated (AV:N/PR:N), but AC:H because it requires an attacker-influenced redirect from the trusted endpoint plus header-forwarding/mixed config; header leak gives C:H and key substitution gives I:H, no availability impact.

Ecosystem-wide dependent count for version 2.14.0.
DescriptionNVD
PyJWT is a Python implementation of JSON Web Token standards. Prior to 2.14.0, PyJWT PyJWKClient is affected because redirect destinations are not revalidated against the JWKS trust boundary. This occurs when a configured trusted JWKS endpoint returns an attacker-influenced redirect. As a result, PyJWKClient follows the redirect and consumes the redirected response as key material. Consequently, forwarded credentials may be disclosed or verification keys may be substituted. This issue is fixed in version 2.14.0.

AnalysisAI
JWKS trust-boundary bypass in PyJWT's PyJWKClient allows a configured trusted JWKS endpoint that returns an HTTP 3xx redirect to steer the client to an attacker-chosen host, which is then consumed as authoritative key material; the same mechanism can forward caller-supplied request headers such as Authorization to that destination. Only PyJWT 2.13.0 and earlier are affected (fixed in 2.14.0), and exploitation is not unconditional: it requires the application to actually use PyJWKClient for remote JWKS fetching, attacker influence over the trusted endpoint's redirect response, and - for credential leakage - caller-supplied headers passed into the client, or - for forged-JWT acceptance - a mixed-configuration deployment. …

Recommended ActionAI
Within 24 hours, identify every service or library dependency pinned to PyJWT 2.13.0 or earlier and confirm which of them actually invoke PyJWKClient for remote JWKS retrieval; prioritize internet-facing and identity-adjacent workloads, and treat any deployment that both fetches remote JWKS and passes caller-supplied headers into the client as the highest priority. …
