Remotely reachable RPC endpoint (AV:N, PR:N), but leakage is contingent on an uncaught handler error whose message holds sensitive data (AC:H); only partial confidentiality impact (C:L), no integrity or availability effect.

DescriptionCVE.org
@grpc/grpc-js implements the core functionality of gRPC purely in JavaScript, without a C++ addon. Prior to 1.13.6 and 1.14.5, when an application method handler throws an uncaught error, the server includes its error message in the status message sent to the client. The thrown error message is transmitted to the client, causing sensitive information disclosure when the message contains sensitive data. This issue is fixed in versions 1.13.6 and 1.14.5.
AnalysisAI
Uncaught exceptions raised inside server method handlers in @grpc/grpc-js leak their error message text back to the calling client, exposing internal details such as file paths, SQL fragments, or connection strings. The flaw affects the pure-JavaScript gRPC implementation for Node.js in versions before 1.13.6 and before 1.14.5, and remote clients can trigger it without authentication (CVSS 3.7, AV:N/AC:H/PR:N/UI:N/S:U/C:L/I:N/A:N), though disclosure is opportunistic because the attacker cannot control what the handler throws. …

Vulnerability AssessmentAI
| Exploitation | Exploitation requires that (1) an application method handler on the @grpc/grpc-js server (versions before 1.13.6 or 1.14.5) throws an uncaught error, and (2) that error's message string contains sensitive data such as internal paths, SQL, or connection details. … Additional conditions and limiting factors are described in the full assessment. |
| Risk Assessment | This is a genuinely low-priority issue confirmed by multiple aligned signals. … Full risk analysis with EPSS, KEV, and SSVC signal comparison available after sign-in. |
| Exploit Scenario | Full exploit scenario with step-by-step reproduction available after sign-in. |
| Remediation | Vendor-released patch: upgrade @grpc/grpc-js to 1.13.6 or 1.14.5 (or the next release in your supported line), which changes the default status details for uncaught handler errors to the generic string 'Unknown error'. … Detailed patch versions, workarounds, and compensating controls in full report. |
