Description

In EfwApTransport::ProcessRxRing of efw_ap_transport.cc, there is a possible out of bounds write due to a missing bounds check. This could lead to local escalation of privilege with no additional execution privileges needed. User interaction is not needed for exploitation.

Analysis

Uncontrolled buffer writes in Android's EfwApTransport component allow local attackers to achieve privilege escalation without requiring user interaction or special permissions. The vulnerability stems from insufficient bounds checking in the ProcessRxRing function, enabling an attacker with local access to corrupt kernel memory and gain elevated privileges.

Remediation

Within 24 hours: Identify all systems running vulnerable EfwApTransport versions and isolate critical assets from untrusted users. Within 7 days: Implement network segmentation to restrict local access, disable EfwApTransport if non-essential, and apply compensating controls. …
