DescriptionCVE.org

An information leak vulnerability exists in specific configurations of React Server Components versions 19.0.0, 19.0.1 19.1.0, 19.1.1, 19.1.2, 19.2.0 and 19.2.1, including the following packages: react-server-dom-parcel, react-server-dom-turbopack, and react-server-dom-webpack. A specifically crafted HTTP request sent to a vulnerable Server Function may unsafely return the source code of any Server Function. Exploitation requires the existence of a Server Function which explicitly or implicitly exposes a stringified argument.

AnalysisAI

Information disclosure in React Server Components 19.x, distributed as react-server-dom-webpack, react-server-dom-turbopack and react-server-dom-parcel, lets remote unauthenticated attackers retrieve the source code of a Server Function with a single crafted HTTP request and no user interaction. The flaw is not universal: it requires the application to define a Server Function that explicitly or implicitly exposes a stringified argument, and its impact is limited to source-code disclosure, with no code execution, data modification or availability effect (CVSS 5.3, C:L with I:N/A:N). Exploitation priority is driven by the intelligence picture rather than the score itself - publicly available exploit code exists and EPSS stands at 64.23% (99th percentile) - while there is no confirmed active exploitation (CISA KEV) at time of analysis.

Technical ContextAI

React Server Components (RSC) use the React Flight protocol to stream serialized component trees and Server Function payloads from server to client; the affected implementations are the bundler-specific runtimes react-server-dom-webpack, react-server-dom-turbopack and react-server-dom-parcel, which are consumed by frameworks such as Next.js (the supplied CPE data maps coverage to vercel:next.js builds on node.js, including 15.6.0 and the 15.6.0 canary0 and canary1 channel builds, plus additional next.js version ranges). The underlying weakness is that a specifically crafted HTTP request aimed at a vulnerable Server Function can cause the runtime to return that function's own source code instead of a safe serialized response, but only when the function explicitly or implicitly exposes a stringified argument. No CWE identifier was supplied with this record, so the weakness is best described behaviorally as improper handling of serialized arguments leading to exposure of sensitive source information. The assessed vector CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:N/S:U/C:L/I:N/A:N confirms the request is network-reachable, requires no authentication (PR:N) and no user interaction (UI:N), leaves scope unchanged, and affects only confidentiality at a Low level - there is no code execution, write or denial-of-service component.

RemediationAI

Upgrade React Server Components and the consuming framework to a fixed release; the exact fixed version numbers are not enumerated in the supplied intelligence, so obtain them from the vendor advisory at https://react.dev/blog/2025/12/11/denial-of-service-and-source-code-exposure-in-react-server-components, which groups this source-exposure issue with a related denial-of-service flaw, and from https://www.facebook.com/security/advisories/cve-2025-55183 - patch status beyond advisory guidance is not independently confirmed by the provided data, so verify against the maintainers rather than assuming a given build is fixed. Where immediate upgrade of Next.js or the react-server-dom-* package is not possible, reduce exposure by removing or refactoring Server Functions that pass stringified arguments across the client-server boundary, for example values produced by JSON.stringify or otherwise pre-serialized; this is the deployment-specific prerequisite for exploitation, so applications with no argument-exposing Server Function are not exploitable even while running a vulnerable version, and refactoring them eliminates the attack path at the cost of reworking component interfaces. Additional compensating controls with their trade-offs are to place a WAF or reverse proxy in front of the application with rules that normalize or block crafted requests against Server Function endpoints, accepting false positives and ongoing tuning because legitimate Flight payloads share the same routes, and to restrict network access to RSC/Flight endpoints to trusted clients where the architecture permits. Because the disclosed material is source code, monitor logs for RSC endpoint responses containing unexpected source content and rotate any secrets, internal URLs or API keys embedded in exposed Server Functions once disclosure is suspected, treating the leak as reconnaissance that can enable follow-on attacks.
