1DescriptionCVE.org
An Insufficiently Protected Credentials issue was discovered in Schneider Electric Modicon PLCs Modicon M241, all firmware versions, and Modicon M251, all firmware versions. Log-in credentials are sent over the network with Base64 encoding leaving them susceptible to sniffing. Sniffed credentials could then be used to log into the web application.
AnalysisAI
An Insufficiently Protected Credentials issue was discovered in Schneider Electric Modicon PLCs Modicon M241, all firmware versions, and Modicon M251, all firmware versions. Rated critical severity (CVSS 9.8), this vulnerability is remotely exploitable, no authentication required, low attack complexity. No vendor patch available.
Technical ContextAI
This vulnerability is classified as Insufficiently Protected Credentials (CWE-522), which allows attackers to obtain user credentials due to weak protection mechanisms. Affected products include: Schneider-Electric Modicon M241 Firmware, Schneider-Electric Modicon M251 Firmware.
RemediationAI
No vendor patch is available at time of analysis. Monitor vendor advisories for updates. Hash passwords with strong algorithms (bcrypt, argon2), encrypt credentials in transit and at rest, never log credentials.
