Arbitrary code execution in GDAL 3.1.0 through 3.13.0 arises from a stack-based buffer overflow in the netCDF driver's scanForGeometryContainers routine (frmts/netcdf/netcdfsg.cpp), which reads a geometry attribute into a fixed-size stack buffer without validating its length. An attacker who can get a GDAL-based service to parse a crafted NetCDF file containing an oversized geometry attribute can overflow the buffer and run code in the context of the process.
