CVE-2026-98300 Oct 06, 08:45 PATCH Monitor

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: tcp: Don't call skb_clone_and_charge_r() for close()d listener in tcp_v6_do_rcv(). tcp_v6_do_rcv() no longer calls skb_clone_and_charge_r() for TCP_LISTEN since commit 073d89808c06 ("net: fix data-races around sk->sk_forward_alloc"). However, there is still a small race window between tcp_v6_rcv() and tcp_v6_do_rcv(), where concurrent close() changes TCP_LISTEN to TCP_CLOSE, causing skb_clone_and_charge_r() to be called locklessly and resulting in the splat below. [0] Let's avoid calling skb_clone_and_charge_r() for TCP_CLOSE as well. This is fine for non-listeners because tcp_rcv_state_process() drops skb for TCP_CLOSE and opt_skb was freed immediately anyway. The F&F Filipowski mH-DEVELOPER smart home module ships production firmware built on end-of-life Debian 8 and Node.js 17.0.1, both of which are past their support lifecycles and carry publicly documented, permanently unpatched vulnerabilities. Rather than containing one discrete exploitable flaw, the product is exposed because it bundles obsolete, unsupported third-party components (CWE-1104); an attacker who can reach and correctly trigger one of the known component CVEs in this firmware could achieve arbitrary code execution, data disclosure, or denial of service, and the network-reachable services require no authentication (CVSS vector signals PR:N). No public exploit identified at time of analysis, and no KEV listing, so this is best treated as a software-composition hygiene finding whose real-world risk is contingent on how exposed the device's services are; F&F addressed the issue in firmware 3.0.30.

CVE-2026-93800 Sep 24, 16:02 PATCH Monitor

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: btrfs: fix use-after-free on reloc root after error in insert_dirty_subvol() If during relocation we fail in insert_dirty_subvol() because btrfs_update_reloc_root() returned an error, we will leave a root's reloc_root field pointing to a reloc root that was freed instead of NULL, resulting later in a use-after-free, or double free attempt during unmount. The sequence of steps is this: 1) During relocation the call to btrfs_update_reloc_root() in insert_dirty_subvol() fails, so insert_dirty_subvol() returns the error to merge_reloc_root() without adding the root to the list rc->dirty_subvol_roots; 2) Then merge_reloc_root() aborts the current transaction because insert_dirty_subvol() returned an error; 3) Up the call chain, merge_reloc_roots() gets the error, adds the reloc root for root X to the local reloc_roots list and jumps to the 'out' label, where it calls free_reloc_roots() to free all the reloc roots in the local reloc_roots list. This frees the reloc root for root X; 4) We go up the call chain to relocate_block_group() which calls clean_dirty_subvols() to go over dirty roots and set their ->reloc_root field to NULL, but root X is not in the dirty_subvol_roots list, so its ->reloc_root still points to a reloc root; 5) Relocation finishes, with an error and a transaction abort, but the ->reloc_root field for root X still points to the reloc root that was freed in step 3; 6) When unmounting the fs we end up calling: btrfs_free_fs_roots() btrfs_drop_and_free_fs_root() --> calls btrfs_put_root() against root X's ->reloc_root which is not NULL and points to the already freed reloc root in step 4 above Resulting in a use-after-free to a double free attempt. CVE-2026-95667 Sep 22, 13:11 MEDIUM PATCH This Month

MISP installer scripts for Debian 12/13, Ubuntu 24.04, and RHEL 9.4 write all installation output - including the generated admin password, database passwords, GPG passphrase, and supervisor password - into /var/log/misp_install.log, which is created world-readable (typically 0644) under the system default umask, with a companion world-readable FIFO at /var/log/misp_install.log.pipe. Any local unprivileged user on the host can read these credentials, and because the log persists after installation, the exposure is durable rather than limited to the install window; a pre-existing symlink in /var/log could also have redirected the write to an arbitrary location since the file was not removed before creation. The flaw affects MISP versions below 2.5.47 and requires a local account on a machine where an administrator has run one of the affected installer scripts; no public exploit code was identified at time of analysis. A vendor patch is available via upstream commit d5d72ab38, which forces root-only 0600 permissions on both the log and the FIFO.

Unauthenticated arbitrary file upload in the Ultra Addons for Contact Form 7 WordPress plugin (versions 3.2.4 through before 3.5.51) lets a remote attacker place a file with an attacker-chosen name and extension at a predictable public path inside the WordPress site. On hosts running the default Debian/Ubuntu Apache PHP package configuration, where .phar is mapped to the PHP handler alongside .php and .phtml, that uploaded file is interpreted and the issue escalates to remote code execution and full site takeover; on hosts that route only .php to PHP, the file is served inert from the site's own origin, degrading the outcome to stored cross-site scripting. No authentication, user interaction, or special access is required (our assessed vector CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:H/PR:N/UI:N/S:U/C:H/I:H/A:H), publicly available exploit code exists, and the RCE path is immediate on affected Apache/mod_php stacks - which is why our independent assessment rates real-world severity above the vendor-assigned CVSS 6.5.

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: amt: Don't support cross-netns setup. When a lower device is unregistered, amt_device_event() tries to unregister its upper AMT device, but it has two problems. 1. amt_lookup_upper_dev() looks up an upper device in the lower device's netns only 2. amt_device_event() unregisters a single upper device only If AMT device is created on a lower device in another netns, removing the lower device triggers the splat below and gets stuck until all upper devices are removed. [0] The cross-netns setup seems unintentional considering 1. and the following points: * amt_link_setup() sets dev->netns_immutable to true * skb_scrub_packet() is not called in the fast path * iproute2 binary fails to find cross-netns lower device via link-netns: # ip -n ns1 link add amt0 link-netns ns2 type amt dev veth1 Cannot find device "veth1" Instead of supporting it properly and preparing for per-netns netdev unreg, let's forbid cross-netns setup. In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: apparmor: fix deadlock in complain-mode change_hat The use of change_hat when in complain mode can cause a deadlock when the hat doesn't exist and a new learning profile is created for the missing profile. This is because change_hat() has taken the lock to search the hat list and creating the new learning profile needs to take the lock to add it to the list. From the bug report: Originally found in 7.0.0 in LTS ubuntu 26.04 with pam_apparmor + su in complain mode set to change hats. Then verified in newest available vanilla kernel I've compiled to see if still present: 7.2-rc7 vanilla -> affected checked also some other kernels: 6.18.44 vanilla -> affected 6.12.95 with debian patches -> unaffected On systems without bug (for example 6.12.95 debian) it just prints: aa_change_hat rc=0 On systems with bug, the executable always hangs, prints nothing and becomes unkillable. (And once stuck this way, it will cause any further hat changes to also cause the changing process to get stuck) Then in syslog you can find hint about cause: kernel: INFO: task hat:3409 blocked for more than 483 seconds. kernel: Not tainted 7.2.0-rc7 #1 kernel: "echo 0 > /proc/sys/kernel/hung_task_timeout_secs" disables this message. kernel: task:hat state:D stack:0 pid:3409 tgid:3409 ppid:2605 task_flags:0x400000 flags:0x00080800 kernel: Call Trace: kernel: <TASK> kernel: __schedule+0x48f/0xfe0 kernel: schedule+0x27/0xa0 kernel: schedule_preempt_disabled+0x15/0x30 kernel: __mutex_lock.constprop.0+0x569/0xa10 kernel: aa_new_learning_profile+0x15f/0x210 kernel: build_change_hat+0x19f/0x3b0 kernel: change_hat.isra.0+0x5dd/0xd60 kernel: aa_change_hat+0x2f3/0x710 kernel: aa_setprocattr_changehat+0x121/0x1f0 kernel: do_setattr+0x28c/0x340 kernel: apparmor_setselfattr+0x20/0x50 kernel: security_setselfattr+0xf6/0x110 kernel: __x64_sys_lsm_set_self_attr+0x53/0x90 kernel: do_syscall_64+0xdd/0x5e0 kernel: ? __mod_memcg_lruvec_state+0xfd/0x260 kernel: ? lruvec_stat_mod_folio+0x8d/0xd0 kernel: ? __folio_mod_stat+0x2d/0x90 kernel: ? map_anon_folio_pte_nopf+0xd1/0x1f0 kernel: ? do_anonymous_page+0x184/0xa10 kernel: ? __handle_mm_fault+0x805/0x870 kernel: ? count_memcg_events+0xef/0x230 kernel: ? handle_mm_fault+0x1f0/0x2f0 kernel: ? do_user_addr_fault+0x2bb/0x7b0 kernel: ? do_syscall_64+0x94/0x5e0 kernel: ? exc_page_fault+0x75/0x160 kernel: entry_SYSCALL_64_after_hwframe+0x76/0x7e kernel: RIP: 0033:0x7f815e134c8d kernel: RSP: 002b:00007fff6df94ea8 EFLAGS: 00000246 ORIG_RAX: 00000000000001cc kernel: RAX: ffffffffffffffda RBX: 0000556d8c81d040 RCX: 00007f815e134c8d kernel: RDX: 0000000000000046 RSI: 0000556d8c81d040 RDI: 0000000000000064 kernel: RBP: 00007fff6df94ef0 R08: 00007f815e212ac8 R09: 000000000000000c kernel: R10: 0000000000000000 R11: 0000000000000246 R12: 0000556d8c81d010 kernel: R13: 0000000000000026 R14: 0000000000000046 R15: 0000000000000064 kernel: </TASK> kernel: INFO: task hat:3409 is blocked on a mutex likely owned by task hat:3409. CVE-2026-90170 Sep 17, 16:06 PATCH Monitor

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: ksmbd: validate ipc response length before dereferencing its fields ipc_validate_msg() computes the expected message size by reading length fields out of the response buffer supplied by the userspace ksmbd daemon (payload_sz, session_key_len, ngroups, ...). Those fields are read before the buffer is verified to be large enough to contain the struct they belong to, so a short response makes the read land past the end of the allocation. handle_response() sizes entry->response purely from the netlink attribute length (nla_len()) and only guards the leading handle read, so the daemon can install a response as small as the kmalloc-8 object seen below. When ipc_msg_send_request() then calls ipc_validate_msg() for a KSMBD_EVENT_RPC_REQUEST, the cast to struct ksmbd_rpc_command reads resp->payload_sz at offset 8 of an 8-byte allocation: [ 3697.841381] ================================================================== [ 3697.844099] BUG: KASAN: slab-out-of-bounds in ipc_msg_send_request+0x763/0x800 [ 3697.846604] Read of size 4 at addr ffff888105f95910 by task kworker/4:3/20682 [ 3697.849061] [ 3697.849801] CPU: 4 UID: 0 PID: 20682 Comm: kworker/4:3 Not tainted 7.2.0-rc3-next-20260717-virtme #117 PREEMPT(lazy) [ 3697.850077] Hardware name: QEMU Standard PC (i440FX + PIIX, 1996), BIOS 1.17.0-debian-1.17.0-1 04/01/2014 [ 3697.850303] Workqueue: ksmbd-io handle_ksmbd_work [ 3697.850592] Call Trace: [ 3697.850794] <TASK> [ 3697.850952] __dump_stack+0x21/0x60 [ 3697.851239] dump_stack_lvl+0xc2/0x100 [ 3697.851528] print_address_description+0x77/0x200 [ 3697.851816] ? ipc_msg_send_request+0x763/0x800 [ 3697.852024] print_report+0x58/0x70 [ 3697.852316] kasan_report+0x117/0x150 [ 3697.852585] ? down_write+0x146/0x1f0 [ 3697.852809] ? ipc_msg_send_request+0x763/0x800 [ 3697.853082] ipc_msg_send_request+0x763/0x800 [ 3697.853385] ? __pfx_ipc_msg_send_request+0x10/0x10 [ 3697.853604] ? kasan_unpoison+0x48/0x70 [ 3697.853936] ? __pfx___up_read+0x10/0x10 [ 3697.854221] ksmbd_rpc_ioctl+0x380/0x520 [ 3697.854542] ? __pfx_ksmbd_rpc_ioctl+0x10/0x10 [ 3697.854757] ? kasan_unpoison+0x48/0x70 [ 3697.854962] ? copy_from_kernel_nofault+0x32c/0x4e0 [ 3697.855166] ? kasan_unpoison+0x48/0x70 [ 3697.855416] fsctl_pipe_transceive+0x139/0x7a0 [ 3697.855705] ? __pfx_copy_from_kernel_nofault+0x10/0x10 [ 3697.855937] ? __pfx_fsctl_pipe_transceive+0x10/0x10 [ 3697.856388] ? __sanitizer_cov_trace_switch+0x7b/0x140 [ 3697.856620] smb2_ioctl+0x1141/0x3420 [ 3697.856994] ? __pfx_smb2_ioctl+0x10/0x10 [ 3697.857182] ? get_smb2_cmd_val+0xe3/0x1c0 [ 3697.857655] handle_ksmbd_work+0x9ad/0x15e0 [ 3697.858034] ? __pfx_handle_ksmbd_work+0x10/0x10 [ 3697.858251] ? lock_release+0xf7/0x360 [ 3697.858466] ? process_scheduled_works+0x954/0x1600 [ 3697.858698] ? process_scheduled_works+0x954/0x1600 [ 3697.858905] process_scheduled_works+0xc22/0x1600 [ 3697.859368] ? __pfx_process_scheduled_works+0x10/0x10 [ 3697.859637] ? __pfx_assign_work+0x10/0x10 [ 3697.859896] ? lock_is_held_type+0x7b/0x110 [ 3697.860146] worker_thread+0x975/0xee0 [ 3697.860524] ? __pfx_do_raw_spin_lock+0x10/0x10 [ 3697.860830] ? __kthread_parkme+0x21e/0x260 [ 3697.861105] kthread+0x3a6/0x490 [ 3697.861423] ? __pfx_worker_thread+0x10/0x10 [ 3697.861643] ? __pfx_kthread+0x10/0x10 [ 3697.861878] ret_from_fork+0x55a/0xa20 [ 3697.862194] ? __pfx_ret_from_fork+0x10/0x10 [ 3697.862480] ? __pfx_kthread+0x10/0x10 [ 3697.862714] ret_from_fork_asm+0x1a/0x30 [ 3697.862965] </TASK> [ 3697.863039] [ 3697.938882] Allocated by task 20761: [ 3697.940257] kasan_save_track+0x3e/0x80 [ 3697.941782] __kasan_kmalloc+0x72/0x90 [ 3697.943228] __kvmalloc_node_noprof+0x3e9/0x6a0 [ 3697.944948] handle_generic_event+0x59b/0x750 [ 3697.946592] genl_family_rcv_msg_doit+0x3d6/0x560 [ 3697.946977] genl_rcv_msg+0x67c/0x900 [ 3697.947224] netlink_rcv_skb+0x286/0x580 [ 3697.947488] genl_rcv+0x2d/0x80 [ 3 ---truncated---

CVE-2026-89169 Sep 11, 04:44 MEDIUM This Month

live-boot at commit ff8867c silently skips dm-verity root hash signature verification when the .verity file is absent from the live medium, allowing a physically present attacker to boot a tampered or unsigned root filesystem image that bypasses integrity enforcement. The flaw undermines the dm-verity-enforce-roothash-signature kernel protection intended to guarantee boot-time filesystem authenticity on Debian live systems. No public exploit code has been identified at time of analysis; the CVSS 4.0 physical-access vector (AV:P) and attack-requirement condition (AT:P) significantly constrain real-world exploitability.

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: iommu/iommufd: Fix NULL pointer deref in iommufd_ioas_change_process when racing with iopt_map_file_pages iommufd_ioas_change_process() iterates every IOAS area while only holding every IOAS iova_rwsem, so it assumes every area has a non-NULL pages pointer. That assumption can be false when it runs concurrently with iopt_map_file_pages(). iopt_map_pages() executes in two phases. It first creates the area and inserts it into the interval tree under iova_rwsem, with area->pages still NULL. It then drops iova_rwsem and later fills area->pages under domains_rwsem. This leaves a window between area creation and area->pages fill where a concurrent iommufd_ioas_change_process() can observe the area and dereference a NULL area->pages pointer, leading to a NULL pointer dereference: BUG: kernel NULL pointer dereference, address: 00000000000000c0 #PF: supervisor read access in kernel mode #PF: error_code(0x0000) - not-present page PGD 4b655067 P4D 4b655067 PUD 0 Oops: Oops: 0000 [#1] SMP NOPTI CPU: 0 UID: 0 PID: 11841 Comm: syz.1.628 Not tainted 7.1.0 #3 PREEMPT(full) Hardware name: QEMU Ubuntu 24.04 PC v2 (i440FX + PIIX, arch_caps fix, 1996), BIOS 1.16.3-debian-1.16.3-2 04/01/2014 RIP: 0010:iommufd_ioas_change_process+0x419/0xd50 drivers/iommu/iommufd/ioas.c:538 Code: 48 89 c3 48 85 c0 0f 84 cc 00 00 00 e8 10 f5 cb fd 48 8d 7b 68 e8 a7 b5 eb fd 48 8b 6b 68 48 8d bd c0 00 00 00 e8 17 b2 eb fd <8b> ad c0 00 00 00 bf 01 00 00 00 89 ee e8 85 ef cb fd 83 fd 01 74 RSP: 0018:ffffc90015c17d28 EFLAGS: 00010246 RAX: ffff8880186d5328 RBX: ffff88801d25e240 RCX: 0000000080000000 RDX: 00000000000002d7 RSI: ffffffff83ba9e10 RDI: 00000000000000c0 RBP: 0000000000000000 R08: ffffffff8e781eb8 R09: 0000000000000000 R10: 00000000000000c0 R11: ffffffff83ba9e29 R12: ffff88802e216008 R13: ffff88802e216000 R14: 0000000000000001 R15: 0000000000000000 FS: 00007f4aea3f66c0(0000) GS:ffff8880b1fa1000(0000) knlGS:0000000000000000 CS: 0010 DS: 0000 ES: 0000 CR0: 0000000080050033 CR2: 00000000000000c0 CR3: 000000004b75c000 CR4: 0000000000350ef0 Call Trace: <TASK> iommufd_fops_ioctl+0x287/0x400 drivers/iommu/iommufd/main.c:533 vfs_ioctl fs/ioctl.c:51 [inline] __do_sys_ioctl fs/ioctl.c:597 [inline] __se_sys_ioctl fs/ioctl.c:583 [inline] __x64_sys_ioctl+0x120/0x170 fs/ioctl.c:583 x64_sys_call+0x1092/0x1fb0 arch/x86/include/generated/asm/syscalls_64.h:17 do_syscall_x64 arch/x86/entry/syscall_64.c:63 [inline] do_syscall_64+0x10a/0x680 arch/x86/entry/syscall_64.c:94 entry_SYSCALL_64_after_hwframe+0x77/0x7f RIP: 0033:0x7f4aec1a82bd Code: ff c3 66 2e 0f 1f 84 00 00 00 00 00 90 f3 0f 1e fa 48 89 f8 48 89 f7 48 89 d6 48 89 ca 4d 89 c2 4d 89 c8 4c 8b 4c 24 08 0f 05 <48> 3d 01 f0 ff ff 73 01 c3 48 c7 c1 b0 ff ff ff f7 d8 64 89 01 48 RSP: 002b:00007f4aea3f6018 EFLAGS: 00000246 ORIG_RAX: 0000000000000010 RAX: ffffffffffffffda RBX: 00007f4aec436090 RCX: 00007f4aec1a82bd RDX: 0000200000000180 RSI: 0000000000003b92 RDI: 0000000000000003 RBP: 00007f4aec250295 R08: 0000000000000000 R09: 0000000000000000 R10: 0000000000000000 R11: 0000000000000246 R12: 0000000000000000 R13: 00007f4aec436128 R14: 00007f4aec436090 R15: 00007ffd04ef23e0 </TASK> Modules linked in: CR2: 00000000000000c0 ---[ end trace 0000000000000000 ]--- RIP: 0010:iommufd_ioas_change_process+0x419/0xd50 drivers/iommu/iommufd/ioas.c:538 Code: 48 89 c3 48 85 c0 0f 84 cc 00 00 00 e8 10 f5 cb fd 48 8d 7b 68 e8 a7 b5 eb fd 48 8b 6b 68 48 8d bd c0 00 00 00 e8 17 b2 eb fd <8b> ad c0 00 00 00 bf 01 00 00 00 89 ee e8 85 ef cb fd 83 fd 01 74 RSP: 0018:ffffc90015c17d28 EFLAGS: 00010246 RAX: ffff8880186d5328 RBX: ffff88801d25e240 RCX: 0000000080000000 RDX: 00000000000002d7 RSI: ffffffff83ba9e10 RDI: 00000000000000c0 RBP: 0000000000000000 R08: ffffffff8e781eb8 R09: 0000000000000000 R10: 00000000000000c0 R11: ffffffff83ba9e29 R12: ffff88802e216008 R13: ffff88802e216000 R14: 0000000000000001 R15: 0000000000000000 FS: 00007f4aea3f66c0(000 ---truncated---

CVE-2026-73974 Aug 18, 21:18 PyPI MEDIUM POC PATCH GHSA This Month

Arbitrary root file read in Linuxfabrik monitoring plugins allows a local attacker controlling the nagios or icinga account to exfiltrate any root-readable file by exploiting the hidden but permanently live --test argument accepted by all sudoers-whitelisted check plugins. Invoking the deb-updates plugin via sudo with --test=/etc/shadow,,0 causes lftest.py to read the supplied path as root with no path confinement and echo its full contents to stdout; approximately 22 additional whitelisted plugins yield filtered leaks or file-existence oracles through the same mechanism. No active exploitation has been confirmed by CISA KEV, but a fully functional proof-of-concept command is publicly disclosed in the vendor's own GitHub security advisory GHSA-rh9c-rqvg-f7pr, and patches are available in linuxfabrik-lib v6.1.0 and monitoring-plugins v7.0.0.

Denial of service in Gitea's Debian package registry (all versions before 1.27.0) lets any authenticated user with package write access crash the server with a single .deb upload. The parser's ParseControlFile decompresses control.tar.gz with no size limit and tees the entire stream into a strings.Builder, so an 83 MB payload expands to 16+ GB and exhausts memory; a companion O(N²) string concatenation on Description continuation lines can independently saturate a CPU core. Null pointer dereference in the Linux kernel's BPF LWT (Lightweight Tunnel) subsystem allows a local user with BPF syscall privileges to crash the kernel via a denial-of-service. The flaw exists because bpf_prog_test_run_skb constructs a socket buffer (skb) without initializing skb->_skb_refdst; when a BPF program invokes the bpf_lwt_xmit_push_encap helper through this test path, the subsequent dereference of skb_dst(skb)->dev hits a null pointer and triggers a kernel panic. No public exploit or CISA KEV listing exists, and EPSS is very low at 0.18% (7th percentile), consistent with the specialized access required.

PowerPC 64-bit (ppc64le/Book3S64) Linux kernel systems from version 5.8 onward can be crashed via a local race condition between concurrent move_pages() and munmap() operations on Transparent Huge Page (THP) PMD-backed memory. During the PMD migration sequence, a narrow window exists where the PMD entry holds a migration swap entry with pmd_present=0; a concurrent munmap() acquiring the same page table lock during this window triggers a VM_BUG_ON() assertion in pmdp_huge_get_and_clear_full(), causing a kernel panic. No public exploit is identified and EPSS stands at 0.15% (5th percentile), but the DoS impact is confirmed by upstream kernel developers with real hardware traces on IBM POWER10 and is patched in stable releases 7.0.10 and 7.1.

Path traversal in BBOT's unarchive internal module enables a malicious archive hosted by attacker-controlled infrastructure to write files outside the intended extraction directory when BBOT runs on systems with GNU tar < 1.34. This vulnerability is a residual gap from CVE-2025-10284, which resolved git-specific RCE vectors but left the underlying archive extraction path validation entirely unimplemented, relying instead on inconsistent external tool behavior across platforms. No public exploit has been identified at time of analysis; the CVSS vector (AC:H/UI:R) constrains real-world risk to BBOT operators actively scanning attacker-controlled targets on affected OS distributions, but the high integrity impact (I:H) and zero privilege requirement (PR:N) are significant for red-team and CI/CD BBOT deployments running on legacy base images.

pam_usb prior to 0.9.0 crashes under memory pressure due to assert()-based OOM guards in src/mem.c that are silently stripped by standard distribution build flags, enabling a local denial-of-service against authentication subsystems. Any allocation failure in xmalloc(), xrealloc(), or xstrdup() returns NULL, which every caller then dereferences unconditionally - the intended abort-before-dereference guarantee exists only in debug builds, not in Debian, Fedora, or Arch Linux packages that define -DNDEBUG via CFLAGS. A local attacker who can induce memory pressure at authentication time causes the PAM module to crash, locking all users out of sudo and login for the duration of the crash. CVE-2026-31654 Apr 24, 14:45 MEDIUM PATCH This Month

Memory leak in the Linux kernel's __mmap_region() function allows a local low-privileged user to incrementally exhaust kernel slab memory, potentially causing denial of service. Introduced as a regression by commit 605f6586ecf7, the bug leaves a shmem file object unreferenced when mmap() on /dev/zero with MAP_SHARED fails mid-way through VMA setup - the replacement file allocated by shmem_zero_setup_desc() is never released via fput(). No public exploit exists and EPSS sits at 0.02%, making this a low-urgency but genuine availability risk for affected kernel versions; patched upstream in stable commits 61fc8eaf and 894f99eb.

A stack overflow vulnerability exists in the Linux kernel's tunnel transmission functions (iptunnel_xmit and ip6tunnel_xmit) due to missing recursion limits when GRE tap interfaces operate as slaves in bonded devices with broadcast mode enabled. This allows local attackers or legitimate multicast/broadcast traffic to trigger infinite recursion between bond_xmit_broadcast() and tunnel transmission functions, causing kernel stack exhaustion and denial of service. The vulnerability affects multiple Linux kernel versions and has been resolved with the addition of IP_TUNNEL_RECURSION_LIMIT (4) to prevent excessive stack consumption during nested tunnel packet encapsulation.

A memory corruption vulnerability exists in the Linux kernel's Google Virtual Ethernet (gve) driver where dynamic queue count changes cause misalignment between the driver's stats region and the NIC's offset calculations. When queue counts increase, the NIC can write past the allocated stats region boundary causing heap corruption; when decreased, stats data becomes misaligned. This affects Linux kernel versions across multiple stable branches (as evidenced by patches in 5.10, 5.15, 6.1, 6.6, 6.7, 6.8, and 6.9 series). The vulnerability is not currently listed as actively exploited in KEV, but represents a critical reliability and security issue for systems using Google Cloud Platform infrastructure with the affected gve driver.

CVE-2025-40349 Dec 16, 14:15 HIGH PATCH This Week

Out-of-bounds read in the Linux kernel HFS+ (hfsplus) filesystem driver allows a local attacker to crash the kernel via a crafted HFS+ B-tree node whose record offset or length in hfsplus_bmap_alloc exceeds node_size, causing access beyond the node's allocated pages. The flaw is reached during node allocation (hfs_btree_inc_height → hfsplus_brec_insert) when writing to files on a malicious HFS+ image, with KASAN confirming a slab-out-of-bounds read. Reported as a denial-of-service issue with a low EPSS score (0.18%, 8th percentile); no public exploit identified at time of analysis and it is not in CISA KEV.

Memory corruption in the Linux kernel AF_XDP (xsk) zero-copy transmit path allows a local user with an AF_XDP socket to trigger a NULL pointer dereference and fatal kernel panic. The regression, introduced by commit 30f241fcf52a, misused the skb control block to store the completion-queue descriptor count; because the control block is reused by other subsystems (e.g. IP receive) after transmit, xsk_destruct_skb dereferences corrupted data. EPSS is 0.03% and there is no public exploit identified at time of analysis; the practical outcome is denial of service rather than the full CIA compromise implied by the raw 7.8 CVSS.

CVE-2025-40288 Dec 06, 22:15 PATCH Monitor

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: drm/amdgpu: Fix NULL pointer dereference in VRAM logic for APU devices Previously, APU platforms (and other scenarios with uninitialized VRAM managers) triggered a NULL pointer dereference in `ttm_resource_manager_usage()`. The root cause is not that the `struct ttm_resource_manager *man` pointer itself is NULL, but that `man->bdev` (the backing device pointer within the manager) remains uninitialized (NULL) on APUs-since APUs lack dedicated VRAM and do not fully set up VRAM manager structures. When `ttm_resource_manager_usage()` attempts to acquire `man->bdev->lru_lock`, it dereferences the NULL `man->bdev`, leading to a kernel OOPS. 1. **amdgpu_cs.c**: Extend the existing bandwidth control check in `amdgpu_cs_get_threshold_for_moves()` to include a check for `ttm_resource_manager_used()`. If the manager is not used (uninitialized `bdev`), return 0 for migration thresholds immediately-skipping VRAM-specific logic that would trigger the NULL dereference. 2. **amdgpu_kms.c**: Update the `AMDGPU_INFO_VRAM_USAGE` ioctl and memory info reporting to use a conditional: if the manager is used, return the real VRAM usage; otherwise, return 0. This avoids accessing `man->bdev` when it is NULL. 3. **amdgpu_virt.c**: Modify the vf2pf (virtual function to physical function) data write path. Use `ttm_resource_manager_used()` to check validity: if the manager is usable, calculate `fb_usage` from VRAM usage; otherwise, set `fb_usage` to 0 (APUs have no discrete framebuffer to report). This approach is more robust than APU-specific checks because it: - Works for all scenarios where the VRAM manager is uninitialized (not just APUs), - Aligns with TTM's design by using its native helper function, - Preserves correct behavior for discrete GPUs (which have fully initialized `man->bdev` and pass the `ttm_resource_manager_used()` check). v4: use ttm_resource_manager_used(&adev->mman.vram_mgr.manager) instead of checking the adev->gmc.is_app_apu flag (Christian)

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: exfat: fix improper check of dentry.stream.valid_size We found an infinite loop bug in the exFAT file system that can lead to a Denial-of-Service (DoS) condition. When a dentry in an exFAT filesystem is malformed, the following system calls - SYS_openat, SYS_ftruncate, and SYS_pwrite64 - can cause the kernel to hang. Root cause analysis shows that the size validation code in exfat_find() does not check whether dentry.stream.valid_size is negative. As a result, the system calls mentioned above can succeed and eventually trigger the DoS issue. This patch adds a check for negative dentry.stream.valid_size to prevent this vulnerability.

Syzbot reported this with the following dmesg/syslog: [ 106.004389][ T5339] BTRFS error (device loop0 state A): Transaction aborted (error -5) [ 106.014266][ T5339] BTRFS: error (device loop0 state A) in merge_reloc_root:1655: errno=-5 IO failure [ 106.021891][ T1061] BTRFS error (device loop0 state A): error while writing out transaction: -5 [ 106.026964][ T1061] BTRFS warning (device loop0 state A): Skipping commit of aborted transaction.

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: amt: Don't support cross-netns setup. When a lower device is unregistered, amt_device_event() tries to unregister its upper AMT device, but it has two problems. 1. amt_lookup_upper_dev() looks up an upper device in the lower device's netns only 2. amt_device_event() unregisters a single upper device only If AMT device is created on a lower device in another netns, removing the lower device triggers the splat below and gets stuck until all upper devices are removed. [0] The cross-netns setup seems unintentional considering 1. and the following points: * amt_link_setup() sets dev->netns_immutable to true * skb_scrub_packet() is not called in the fast path * iproute2 binary fails to find cross-netns lower device via link-netns: # ip -n ns1 link add amt0 link-netns ns2 type amt dev veth1 Cannot find device "veth1" Instead of supporting it properly and preparing for per-netns netdev unreg, let's forbid cross-netns setup. Note that the problem 2. needs a separate fix. In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: apparmor: fix deadlock in complain-mode change_hat The use of change_hat when in complain mode can cause a deadlock when the hat doesn't exist and a new learning profile is created for the missing profile. This is because change_hat() has taken the lock to search the hat list and creating the new learning profile needs to take the lock to add it to the list. From the bug report: Originally found in 7.0.0 in LTS ubuntu 26.04 with pam_apparmor + su in complain mode set to change hats. Then verified in newest available vanilla kernel I've compiled to see if still present: 7.2-rc7 vanilla -> affected checked also some other kernels: 6.18.44 vanilla -> affected 6.12.95 with debian patches -> unaffected On systems without bug (for example 6.12.95 debian) it just prints: aa_change_hat rc=0 On systems with bug, the executable always hangs, prints nothing and becomes unkillable. (And once stuck this way, it will cause any further hat changes to also cause the changing process to get stuck) Then in syslog you can find hint about cause: kernel: INFO: task hat:3409 blocked for more than 483 seconds. kernel: Not tainted 7.2.0-rc7 #1 kernel: "echo 0 > /proc/sys/kernel/hung_task_timeout_secs" disables this message. kernel: task:hat state:D stack:0 pid:3409 tgid:3409 ppid:2605 task_flags:0x400000 flags:0x00080800 kernel: Call Trace: kernel: <TASK> kernel: __schedule+0x48f/0xfe0 kernel: schedule+0x27/0xa0 kernel: schedule_preempt_disabled+0x15/0x30 kernel: __mutex_lock.constprop.0+0x569/0xa10 kernel: aa_new_learning_profile+0x15f/0x210 kernel: build_change_hat+0x19f/0x3b0 kernel: change_hat.isra.0+0x5dd/0xd60 kernel: aa_change_hat+0x2f3/0x710 kernel: aa_setprocattr_changehat+0x121/0x1f0 kernel: do_setattr+0x28c/0x340 kernel: apparmor_setselfattr+0x20/0x50 kernel: security_setselfattr+0xf6/0x110 kernel: __x64_sys_lsm_set_self_attr+0x53/0x90 kernel: do_syscall_64+0xdd/0x5e0 kernel: ? __mod_memcg_lruvec_state+0xfd/0x260 kernel: ? lruvec_stat_mod_folio+0x8d/0xd0 kernel: ? __folio_mod_stat+0x2d/0x90 kernel: ? map_anon_folio_pte_nopf+0xd1/0x1f0 kernel: ? do_anonymous_page+0x184/0xa10 kernel: ? __handle_mm_fault+0x805/0x870 kernel: ? count_memcg_events+0xef/0x230 kernel: ? handle_mm_fault+0x1f0/0x2f0 kernel: ? do_user_addr_fault+0x2bb/0x7b0 kernel: ? do_syscall_64+0x94/0x5e0 kernel: ? exc_page_fault+0x75/0x160 kernel: entry_SYSCALL_64_after_hwframe+0x76/0x7e kernel: RIP: 0033:0x7f815e134c8d kernel: RSP: 002b:00007fff6df94ea8 EFLAGS: 00000246 ORIG_RAX: 00000000000001cc kernel: RAX: ffffffffffffffda RBX: 0000556d8c81d040 RCX: 00007f815e134c8d kernel: RDX: 0000000000000046 RSI: 0000556d8c81d040 RDI: 0000000000000064 kernel: RBP: 00007fff6df94ef0 R08: 00007f815e212ac8 R09: 000000000000000c kernel: R10: 0000000000000000 R11: 0000000000000246 R12: 0000556d8c81d010 kernel: R13: 0000000000000026 R14: 0000000000000046 R15: 0000000000000064 kernel: </TASK> kernel: INFO: task hat:3409 is blocked on a mutex likely owned by task hat:3409. In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: ksmbd: validate ipc response length before dereferencing its fields ipc_validate_msg() computes the expected message size by reading length fields out of the response buffer supplied by the userspace ksmbd daemon (payload_sz, session_key_len, ngroups, ...). Those fields are read before the buffer is verified to be large enough to contain the struct they belong to, so a short response makes the read land past the end of the allocation. handle_response() sizes entry->response purely from the netlink attribute length (nla_len()) and only guards the leading handle read, so the daemon can install a response as small as the kmalloc-8 object seen below. When ipc_msg_send_request() then calls ipc_validate_msg() for a KSMBD_EVENT_RPC_REQUEST, the cast to struct ksmbd_rpc_command reads resp->payload_sz at offset 8 of an 8-byte allocation: [ 3697.841381] ================================================================== [ 3697.844099] BUG: KASAN: slab-out-of-bounds in ipc_msg_send_request+0x763/0x800 [ 3697.846604] Read of size 4 at addr ffff888105f95910 by task kworker/4:3/20682 [ 3697.849061] [ 3697.849801] CPU: 4 UID: 0 PID: 20682 Comm: kworker/4:3 Not tainted 7.2.0-rc3-next-20260717-virtme #117 PREEMPT(lazy) [ 3697.850077] Hardware name: QEMU Standard PC (i440FX + PIIX, 1996), BIOS 1.17.0-debian-1.17.0-1 04/01/2014 [ 3697.850303] Workqueue: ksmbd-io handle_ksmbd_work [ 3697.850592] Call Trace: [ 3697.850794] <TASK> [ 3697.850952] __dump_stack+0x21/0x60 [ 3697.851239] dump_stack_lvl+0xc2/0x100 [ 3697.851528] print_address_description+0x77/0x200 [ 3697.851816] ? ipc_msg_send_request+0x763/0x800 [ 3697.852024] print_report+0x58/0x70 [ 3697.852316] kasan_report+0x117/0x150 [ 3697.852585] ? down_write+0x146/0x1f0 [ 3697.852809] ? ipc_msg_send_request+0x763/0x800 [ 3697.853082] ipc_msg_send_request+0x763/0x800 [ 3697.853385] ? __pfx_ipc_msg_send_request+0x10/0x10 [ 3697.853604] ? kasan_unpoison+0x48/0x70 [ 3697.853936] ? __pfx___up_read+0x10/0x10 [ 3697.854221] ksmbd_rpc_ioctl+0x380/0x520 [ 3697.854542] ? __pfx_ksmbd_rpc_ioctl+0x10/0x10 [ 3697.854757] ? kasan_unpoison+0x48/0x70 [ 3697.854962] ? copy_from_kernel_nofault+0x32c/0x4e0 [ 3697.855166] ? kasan_unpoison+0x48/0x70 [ 3697.855416] fsctl_pipe_transceive+0x139/0x7a0 [ 3697.855705] ? __pfx_copy_from_kernel_nofault+0x10/0x10 [ 3697.855937] ? __pfx_fsctl_pipe_transceive+0x10/0x10 [ 3697.856388] ? __sanitizer_cov_trace_switch+0x7b/0x140 [ 3697.856620] smb2_ioctl+0x1141/0x3420 [ 3697.856994] ? __pfx_smb2_ioctl+0x10/0x10 [ 3697.857182] ? get_smb2_cmd_val+0xe3/0x1c0 [ 3697.857655] handle_ksmbd_work+0x9ad/0x15e0 [ 3697.858034] ? __pfx_handle_ksmbd_work+0x10/0x10 [ 3697.858251] ? lock_release+0xf7/0x360 [ 3697.858466] ? process_scheduled_works+0x954/0x1600 [ 3697.858698] ? process_scheduled_works+0x954/0x1600 [ 3697.858905] process_scheduled_works+0xc22/0x1600 [ 3697.859368] ? __pfx_process_scheduled_works+0x10/0x10 [ 3697.859637] ? __pfx_assign_work+0x10/0x10 [ 3697.859896] ? lock_is_held_type+0x7b/0x110 [ 3697.860146] worker_thread+0x975/0xee0 [ 3697.860524] ? __pfx_do_raw_spin_lock+0x10/0x10 [ 3697.860830] ? __kthread_parkme+0x21e/0x260 [ 3697.861105] kthread+0x3a6/0x490 [ 3697.861423] ? __pfx_worker_thread+0x10/0x10 [ 3697.861643] ? __pfx_kthread+0x10/0x10 [ 3697.861878] ret_from_fork+0x55a/0xa20 [ 3697.862194] ? __pfx_ret_from_fork+0x10/0x10 [ 3697.862480] ? __pfx_kthread+0x10/0x10 [ 3697.862714] ret_from_fork_asm+0x1a/0x30 [ 3697.862965] </TASK> [ 3697.863039] [ 3697.938882] Allocated by task 20761: [ 3697.940257] kasan_save_track+0x3e/0x80 [ 3697.941782] __kasan_kmalloc+0x72/0x90 [ 3697.943228] __kvmalloc_node_noprof+0x3e9/0x6a0 [ 3697.944948] handle_generic_event+0x59b/0x750 [ 3697.946592] genl_family_rcv_msg_doit+0x3d6/0x560 [ 3697.946977] genl_rcv_msg+0x67c/0x900 [ 3697.947224] netlink_rcv_skb+0x286/0x580 [ 3697.947488] genl_rcv+0x2d/0x80 [ 3 ---truncated---

live-boot at commit ff8867c silently skips dm-verity root hash signature verification when the .verity file is absent from the live medium, allowing a physically present attacker to boot a tampered or unsigned root filesystem image that bypasses integrity enforcement.

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: iommu/iommufd: Fix NULL pointer deref in iommufd_ioas_change_process when racing with iopt_map_file_pages iommufd_ioas_change_process() iterates every IOAS area while only holding every IOAS iova_rwsem, so it assumes every area has a non-NULL pages pointer. That assumption can be false when it runs concurrently with iopt_map_file_pages(). iopt_map_pages() executes in two phases. It first creates the area and inserts it into the interval tree under iova_rwsem, with area->pages still NULL. It then drops iova_rwsem and later fills area->pages under domains_rwsem. This leaves a window between area creation and area->pages fill where a concurrent iommufd_ioas_change_process() can observe the area and dereference a NULL area->pages pointer, leading to a NULL pointer dereference: BUG: kernel NULL pointer dereference, address: 00000000000000c0 #PF: supervisor read access in kernel mode #PF: error_code(0x0000) - not-present page PGD 4b655067 P4D 4b655067 PUD 0 Oops: Oops: 0000 [#1] SMP NOPTI CPU: 0 UID: 0 PID: 11841 Comm: syz.1.628 Not tainted 7.1.0 #3 PREEMPT(full) Hardware name: QEMU Ubuntu 24.04 PC v2 (i440FX + PIIX, arch_caps fix, 1996), BIOS 1.16.3-debian-1.16.3-2 04/01/2014 RIP: 0010:iommufd_ioas_change_process+0x419/0xd50 drivers/iommu/iommufd/ioas.c:538 Code: 48 89 c3 48 85 c0 0f 84 cc 00 00 00 e8 10 f5 cb fd 48 8d 7b 68 e8 a7 b5 eb fd 48 8b 6b 68 48 8d bd c0 00 00 00 e8 17 b2 eb fd <8b> ad c0 00 00 00 bf 01 00 00 00 89 ee e8 85 ef cb fd 83 fd 01 74 RSP: 0018:ffffc90015c17d28 EFLAGS: 00010246 RAX: ffff8880186d5328 RBX: ffff88801d25e240 RCX: 0000000080000000 RDX: 00000000000002d7 RSI: ffffffff83ba9e10 RDI: 00000000000000c0 RBP: 0000000000000000 R08: ffffffff8e781eb8 R09: 0000000000000000 R10: 00000000000000c0 R11: ffffffff83ba9e29 R12: ffff88802e216008 R13: ffff88802e216000 R14: 0000000000000001 R15: 0000000000000000 FS: 00007f4aea3f66c0(0000) GS:ffff8880b1fa1000(0000) knlGS:0000000000000000 CS: 0010 DS: 0000 ES: 0000 CR0: 0000000080050033 CR2: 00000000000000c0 CR3: 000000004b75c000 CR4: 0000000000350ef0 Call Trace: <TASK> iommufd_fops_ioctl+0x287/0x400 drivers/iommu/iommufd/main.c:533 vfs_ioctl fs/ioctl.c:51 [inline] __do_sys_ioctl fs/ioctl.c:597 [inline] __se_sys_ioctl fs/ioctl.c:583 [inline] __x64_sys_ioctl+0x120/0x170 fs/ioctl.c:583 x64_sys_call+0x1092/0x1fb0 arch/x86/include/generated/asm/syscalls_64.h:17 do_syscall_x64 arch/x86/entry/syscall_64.c:63 [inline] do_syscall_64+0x10a/0x680 arch/x86/entry/syscall_64.c:94 entry_SYSCALL_64_after_hwframe+0x77/0x7f RIP: 0033:0x7f4aec1a82bd Code: ff c3 66 2e 0f 1f 84 00 00 00 00 00 90 f3 0f 1e fa 48 89 f8 48 89 f7 48 89 d6 48 89 ca 4d 89 c2 4d 89 c8 4c 8b 4c 24 08 0f 05 <48> 3d 01 f0 ff ff 73 01 c3 48 c7 c1 b0 ff ff ff f7 d8 64 89 01 48 RSP: 002b:00007f4aea3f6018 EFLAGS: 00000246 ORIG_RAX: 0000000000000010 RAX: ffffffffffffffda RBX: 00007f4aec436090 RCX: 00007f4aec1a82bd RDX: 0000200000000180 RSI: 0000000000003b92 RDI: 0000000000000003 RBP: 00007f4aec250295 R08: 0000000000000000 R09: 0000000000000000 R10: 0000000000000000 R11: 0000000000000246 R12: 0000000000000000 R13: 00007f4aec436128 R14: 00007f4aec436090 R15: 00007ffd04ef23e0 </TASK> Modules linked in: CR2: 00000000000000c0 ---[ end trace 0000000000000000 ]--- RIP: 0010:iommufd_ioas_change_process+0x419/0xd50 drivers/iommu/iommufd/ioas.c:538 Code: 48 89 c3 48 85 c0 0f 84 cc 00 00 00 e8 10 f5 cb fd 48 8d 7b 68 e8 a7 b5 eb fd 48 8b 6b 68 48 8d bd c0 00 00 00 e8 17 b2 eb fd <8b> ad c0 00 00 00 bf 01 00 00 00 89 ee e8 85 ef cb fd 83 fd 01 74 RSP: 0018:ffffc90015c17d28 EFLAGS: 00010246 RAX: ffff8880186d5328 RBX: ffff88801d25e240 RCX: 0000000080000000 RDX: 00000000000002d7 RSI: ffffffff83ba9e10 RDI: 00000000000000c0 RBP: 0000000000000000 R08: ffffffff8e781eb8 R09: 0000000000000000 R10: 00000000000000c0 R11: ffffffff83ba9e29 R12: ffff88802e216008 R13: ffff88802e216000 R14: 0000000000000001 R15: 0000000000000000 FS: 00007f4aea3f66c0(000 ---truncated---

Denial-of-service in Erlang OTP's epmd daemon due to improper handling of file descriptor exhaustion allows an unauthenticated remote attacker to terminate the daemon. The vulnerability arises from calling epmd_cleanup_exit() on EMFILE/ENFILE errors instead of recovering, and can lead to permanent service failure on Debian/Ubuntu systems using systemd. No active exploitation identified (SSVC exploitation none, EPSS 0.39%) and no public exploit code is known.
