MITRE ATT&CK
1 technique across 1 tactic: Privilege Escalation The technique list with ATT&CK links and the kill-chain view is part of the Basic plan and up. |
| Exploitation Conditions | Exploitation requires an authenticated Foreman/Red Hat Satellite 6 account that already holds a host view permission AND the ability to view a domain or subnet that is shared across multiple hosts; the flaw is reached through the domain/subnet interface API, which applies the permission but ignores its search-limit filter. Disclosure of out-of-scope host interface records occurs under these conditions alone. The additional write impact (persisting a change to another host's interface) is limited to callers who also hold host-edit permission. Limiting factors: the attacker cannot be fully unauthenticated (PR:L - a provisioned user and relevant host/subnet permissions are prerequisites), there is no scope change (S:U), no availability impact, and the shared domain/subnet must exist for cross-host leakage to occur. |
| Impact | This is a moderate-severity broken-access-control issue (CWE-863) with a vendor-provided CVSS 3.1 vector of AV:N/AC:L/PR:L/UI:N/S:U/C:L/I:L/A:N (5.4). The network attack vector and low complexity are offset by the PR:L requirement: the actor must already be an authenticated, provisioned user with permission to view some hosts and to view a domain or subnet shared with other hosts - this is an insider/over-privileged-tenant problem, not a pre-auth internet exploit. No EPSS score, KEV listing, or public POC was provided in the input, so there is no public exploit identified at time of analysis and no evidence of active exploitation. Impact is bounded (C:L/I:L, A:N): disclosure of interface records for hosts outside the caller's search scope, and - only if the caller also holds host-edit permission - modification of those out-of-scope interfaces. This reads as a genuine multi-tenant/RBAC data-segregation defect worth patching in shared Satellite/Foreman deployments, but it is a priority-after-criticals issue rather than an emergency: the privilege prerequisite and partial impact keep real-world risk firmly in the medium band, consistent with the 5.4 score. |
| Exploit ScenarioDerived | A low-privileged but authenticated Foreman/Satellite user who is permitted to view a handful of hosts and a shared subnet calls the subnet (or domain) interfaces API. Because the server checks only that the caller holds a host permission and ignores that permission's search limit, the response returns interface records for every host on that subnet - including hosts the user cannot otherwise see. If the same user also holds host-edit rights, they submit a modification to one of those leaked interfaces and it is persisted. No public exploit code was provided in the input. |

Broken access control (CWE-863) in Foreman's domain and subnet interface API lets an authenticated user who already holds a host-view permission and can see a shared domain or subnet read interface records for hosts outside their authorized scope; the API checks the host permission but omits its search-limit filter, returning every interface on the domain or subnet. A user who also holds host-edit permission can persist a change to one of those out-of-scope interfaces, giving limited confidentiality and integrity impact (CVSS 5.4, CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:L/UI:N/S:U/C:L/I:L/A:N). Red Hat Satellite 6, which ships Foreman, is the affected product per CPE; no public exploit identified at time of analysis.
RemediationAI
No vendor-released patch was identified in the provided intelligence; monitor https://access.redhat.com/security/cve/CVE-2026-107203 and the Bugzilla tracker at https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=2547470 for a fixed Foreman/Red Hat Satellite 6 release. In the interim, as a compensating control, restrict access to the domain and subnet interface API endpoints (for example /api/v2/domains/:id/interfaces and /api/v2/subnets/:id/interfaces) to only those accounts that truly require it; blocking these routes at a reverse proxy will break legitimate automation that provisions network interfaces, so scope the rule to untrusted networks or non-admin roles only. Reduce the number of users holding host-view permission on domains or subnets shared across many hosts, and audit shared subnets/domains so cross-host exposure is limited; removing shared membership restores isolation but increases administrative overhead. Tighten host-edit permissions, since the write impact requires that additional permission. These controls limit exposure but do not correct the missing search-limit filter, so apply the vendor fix as soon as it ships.

Technical ContextAI · show details
Foreman is a lifecycle-management application whose REST API uses role-based permissions with scoped search filters; Red Hat Satellite 6 is built on Foreman and is the product flagged in the CPE (cpe:2.3:a:red_hat:red_hat_satellite_6). The domain and subnet interface endpoints (such as /api/v2/domains/:id/interfaces and /api/v2/subnets/:id/interfaces) are supposed to combine the caller's host-view permission with that permission's search limit so that only interfaces of hosts within the caller's authorized scope are returned. Instead, the authorization check confirms only that the caller holds a relevant host permission and skips applying the search-limit filter, so the query is answered from every interface associated with the requested domain or subnet. This is a classic CWE-863 incorrect authorization defect: the permission is present but not constrained, producing a horizontal privilege escalation that leaks network interface records across hosts and, for callers who also hold host-edit permission, allows modification of those records. The CVSS vector (PR:L, S:U, C:L/I:L/A:N) confirms the attacker must be authenticated, no user interaction is needed, scope is unchanged, and availability is not affected; the write impact is bounded by the additional host-edit prerequisite, and no public exploit code or CISA KEV entry was present in the provided intelligence.

DescriptionCVE.org
An incorrect authorization flaw has been found in network interface handling in the Foreman package. The domain and subnet interface API checks only that the caller holds a host permission. It does not apply the search limit on that permission, so the request is answered from every interface on the domain or subnet. A low-privileged network attacker or user must already be allowed to view some hosts and to view a domain or subnet shared with other hosts. They can request that domain or subnet's interfaces. The response includes interface records of hosts they are not allowed to view. If the attacker or user is also allowed to edit some hosts, they can submit a change to one of those interfaces. The interface is then saved with that change.
