| Exploitation Conditions | Exploitation requires that the YesWiki render handler be network-reachable and that the syndication action is invokable via its content parameter - per the advisory this works against default, unauthenticated configurations of YesWiki before 4.6.7, so no special feature toggle is needed. The practical limiting factor is not authentication (none required) but reachability and impact scope: the attacker must be able to reach the instance over the network, and the payoff depends on what internal hosts/ports and metadata services are reachable from the server and whether the writable files directory is useful to the attacker. There is no user-interaction or privilege requirement to reduce exposure. |
| Impact | This is a moderate-severity, genuinely unauthenticated SSRF (CWE-918) in YesWiki before 4.6.7, scored 6.9 using CVSS 4.0 (AV:N/AC:L/AT:N/PR:N/UI:N) - remote, network-reachable, low complexity, no privileges and no user interaction, which makes it trivially triggerable against any exposed instance. The impact profile is deliberately bounded: the 4.0 vector reports no direct impact to the vulnerable system's confidentiality (VC:N) but low integrity (VI:L, from forced file downloads into the files directory) and low confidentiality/integrity/availability on subsequent/internal systems (SC:L/SI:L/SA:L), consistent with an SSRF that pivots into the internal network rather than one that directly compromises the host. No EPSS score was provided, so exploitation probability cannot be quantified. This is NOT in CISA KEV and no POC was supplied, so the status is no public exploit identified at time of analysis. The signals are internally consistent - easy to reach, real but limited impact - making this a credible medium-priority patch item especially for internet-exposed wikis, rather than a drop-everything critical. Note that VulnCheck is the reporter and a GHSA advisory exists, so technical validity is well-supported even though no exploitation-in-the-wild evidence is present. |
| Exploit ScenarioDerived | A remote attacker with no credentials sends a request invoking YesWiki's syndication action through the render handler's content parameter, supplying a URL pointing at an internal host or port (e.g. a cloud metadata endpoint or internal admin service). The server fetches that URL and renders the retrieved feed content back into the page, letting the attacker map internal services and exfiltrate reachable content, and can also coerce feed enclosures to be written into the files directory. No public POC was provided, so exploitation would require crafting the request from the advisory details. |

Alert meAnalysisAIv1 – Oct 02, 2026
Unauthenticated server-side request forgery in YesWiki before 4.6.7 lets remote attackers force the wiki server to fetch arbitrary URLs by supplying a syndication action through the content parameter of the render handler. The CVSS vector indicates PR:N and UI:N, so any network-reachable instance running a default configuration can be triggered without credentials or victim interaction; fetched feed content is echoed back into the rendered page, and feed enclosures are written into the files directory, yielding an internal-network read primitive plus a limited file-write side effect. No public exploit code has been identified at time of analysis and the issue is not listed in CISA KEV, but the low complexity and unauthenticated reach make exposed instances a practical target; the vendor has released YesWiki 4.6.7 to remediate the flaw.
RemediationAI
Upgrade YesWiki to version 4.6.7 or later; this is the vendor-released fix boundary identified in the GitHub security advisory GHSA-jwh5-j4f4-c6xp and the VulnCheck advisory for CVE-2026-104442, and it should be applied to every network-reachable instance regardless of whether it is publicly exposed. If the upgrade cannot be performed immediately, the most effective compensating control is egress filtering on the YesWiki host: block or allowlist outbound traffic from the web server to RFC1918 private ranges, loopback, and the link-local metadata range 169.254.0.0/16, and deny outbound connections to non-standard internal ports. The trade-off is that legitimate remote feed syndication may break, so restrict the rule to the PHP/webserver processes rather than the whole host where possible. Placing the wiki behind a reverse-proxy allowlist, an authentication gateway, or a WAF rule that rejects syndication actions passed via the render handler's content parameter also reduces exposure, at the cost of limiting public access to the site or potentially blocking legitimate feed rendering. Additional hardening: keep the files directory non-executable and outside the web root or otherwise access-controlled, since the vulnerability can cause attacker-chosen enclosures to be written there, and monitor server-side logs for outbound fetches to private or metadata addresses as a detection measure. Finally, treat any data reachable from the YesWiki server, including cloud instance metadata credentials and internal admin panels, as potentially compromised if exploitation is suspected, and rotate affected secrets accordingly.

Technical ContextAI · show details
The root cause is CWE-918 (Server-Side Request Forgery) in YesWiki's feed syndication handling. YesWiki can consume remote RSS/Atom feeds to display syndicated content, and the render handler accepts a 'content' parameter that names the action to execute; passing a syndication action causes the application to build a server-side fetch based on attacker-influenced input without validating or allowlisting the destination host, port, or scheme. This places the YesWiki server itself in the role of HTTP client, so requests originate from inside the network perimeter and can reach internal hosts, non-public ports, and link-local metadata endpoints such as 169.254.169.254 that are normally unreachable from outside. Unlike a blind SSRF, the response is not opaque: the parsed feed body is reflected into the rendered page, giving the attacker a readable channel for whatever the target service returns, and enclosure URLs referenced by the attacker-controlled feed are downloaded into YesWiki's writable files directory, adding a constrained write primitive to the read primitive. The assessed CVSS 3.1 vector (AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:N/S:C/C:L/I:L/A:N) matches this picture: scope change is warranted because the request crosses from the wiki application into other internal services, confidentiality and integrity impact are limited rather than high since the attacker must craft reachable targets and cannot execute code directly through the fetch, and availability is unaffected. The supplied CVSS 4.0 score of 6.9 (AV:N/AC:L/AT:N/PR:N/UI:N with low subsequent-system confidentiality, integrity, and availability impact) is consistent with the same moderate-severity assessment, and the affected-component CPE cpe:2.3:a:yeswiki:yeswiki:*:*:*:*:*:*:*:* covers all pre-4.6.7 builds.

1DescriptionCVE.org
YesWiki before 4.6.7 contains an unauthenticated server-side request forgery vulnerability that allows remote attackers to make the server fetch arbitrary URLs by supplying a syndication action through the render handler's content parameter. Attackers can target internal hosts and ports, read back fetched feed content in the rendered page, and cause feed enclosures to be downloaded into the files directory.
