| Exploitation Conditions | Requires a reachable YesWiki instance on an affected version with at least one Bazar form present (Bazar is a core feature in typical deployments), and the attacker must know or guess a Bazar form identifier (form id 1 is used in the PoC). No authentication, cookies, or tokens are needed - exploitation is against the default public ACL of the entries search API. The attacker supplies a field name containing a backtick in the query or searchfields parameter. Limiting factors: full data-exfiltration and DoS impact is confirmed only on versions >=4.6.7 through 5.0.0-alpha3 (in 4.6.0-4.6.6 the payload returns no rows so injected data does not surface); impact is confined to arbitrary SQL SELECT reads and availability because the database driver rejects stacked queries, so direct INSERT/UPDATE/DELETE is not possible through this vector. |
| Impact | Multiple signals agree this is a genuine priority for any YesWiki operator, not an inflated high-CVSS issue. The CVSS 4.0 vector (AV:N/AC:L/AT:N/PR:N/UI:N) describes trivial exploitation: a single unauthenticated network GET request with no user interaction and no special timing, which the GHSA advisory corroborates with concrete working payloads. Impact is high on both confidentiality (VC:H - direct read of user password hashes returned in the JSON response, no blind technique needed) and availability (VA:H - SLEEP() subqueries exhaust the database connection pool); integrity is correctly VI:N because the driver rejects stacked queries, limiting the vector to SELECT-context reads. The vuln.today decision label is 'this_week' (not act_now/emergency), consistent with a serious but not CISA-confirmed-exploited flaw. No CISA KEV listing is present in the input, so there is no confirmed active exploitation; EPSS is not provided, so widespread-exploitation probability cannot be quantified from this data. A detailed public PoC (full HTTP request payloads) exists in the GHSA advisory. The one tempering signal is product footprint: YesWiki is niche software, so mass automated exploitation is less likely than for ubiquitous platforms - but because exploitation is unauthenticated and trivial, every reachable affected instance should be treated as at immediate risk. |
| Exploit ScenarioDerived | An unauthenticated attacker reaches a YesWiki site's public Bazar entries search API (GET /api/forms/{formId}/entries/...) and submits a query field name containing a backtick, breaking out of the SQL alias and injecting a scalar subquery. In one GET request they exfiltrate username and password-hash pairs from the users table directly in the JSON response, or submit SLEEP() subqueries to block database threads and take the site offline. A detailed proof-of-concept with working HTTP payloads is published in the GHSA advisory. |

Alert meAnalysisAIv1 – Oct 25, 2026
Unauthenticated SQL injection in YesWiki's public Bazar entries search API allows a remote attacker to place a backtick-containing field name into a backtick-quoted SQL alias and execute arbitrary SELECT subqueries, reading data such as user password hashes and using SLEEP() to exhaust database threads. The package advisory lists vulnerable ranges >=4.6.7, <4.7.0 and >=5.0.0-alpha1, <5.0.0-alpha4, fixed in 4.7.0 and 5.0.0-alpha4; the published description also names 4.6.0 before 4.7.0, while source analysis confirms the documented end-to-end chain from 4.6.7. Published CVSS is 8.8 (independent CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:N/S:U/C:H/I:N/A:H); a public PoC reference exists but is not verified as working exploit code, and there is no CISA KEV confirmation of active exploitation.
RemediationAI
Vendor-released patch: update to YesWiki 4.7.0 or 5.0.0-alpha4; the composer advisory maps vulnerable >=4.6.7, <4.7.0 to 4.7.0 and vulnerable >=5.0.0-alpha1, <5.0.0-alpha4 to 5.0.0-alpha4. See GHSA-ccp2-6q93-hggh, GHSA-hgxv-w4r8-8877, and the VulnCheck advisory. No vendor-documented workaround is provided in the available references; if upgrading is not immediately possible, restricting access to the public Bazar entries search routes (GET /api/forms/{formId}/entries/{output}/{selectedEntries} and /api/entries/bazarlist) reduces exposure at the cost of disabling that public API/search functionality, and the vendor fix should still be applied because the underlying alias construction remains unsafe.

Technical ContextAI · show details
The flaw is CWE-89 SQL injection in YesWiki's Bazar search pipeline. The public route GET /api/forms/{formId}/entries/{output}/{selectedEntries} and the sibling /api/entries/bazarlist route are annotated with a public ACL, so no authentication, cookies, or tokens are required. The query and searchfields parameters supply field names; aggregateQueries only splits on | and deduplicates, parseQuery uses the regex character class [^=!<>]* so backticks, parentheses, commas, and spaces pass through, and unknown field names are tagged MISSING_PROPERTY but still reach SQL construction. In SearchManager::prepareSearchRequest() the field name is embedded in a backtick-quoted column alias and escaped only with mysqli_real_escape_string, which is a string-literal escaping primitive that does not escape the MySQL identifier quote, so a backtick closes the alias and injects additional SELECT columns or scalar subqueries. A != comparison against a MISSING_PROPERTY field produces an unconditional true condition, so rows are evaluated and the injected subquery result is serialized into the JSON response; SLEEP() subqueries block database worker threads. The database driver rejects stacked queries, so direct INSERT, UPDATE, or DELETE is not demonstrated; impact is arbitrary SELECT reads (confidentiality) and availability, not direct integrity modification. The alias sink was present from 4.6.0, but the documented data-exfiltration and DoS chain is confirmed only from 4.6.7 through 5.0.0-alpha3, with 5.0.0-alpha1 through alpha3 using relocated search code and an unquoted alias but the same reachable public route and missing-property handling; 4.5.5 and earlier use a different search implementation and are not affected.

2DescriptionCVE.org
YesWiki 4.6.0 before 4.7.0 and 5.0.0-alpha1 before 5.0.0-alpha4 contains an unauthenticated SQL injection vulnerability in SearchManager::prepareSearchRequest(). Field names from the query and searchfields parameters of the public Bazar entries search API are placed in a backtick-quoted alias escaped only with mysqli_real_escape_string. Attackers can supply a backtick to inject subqueries, reading data such as user password hashes or exhausting database threads with SLEEP().

Executive ViewAI
CVE-2026-116207 is a high-severity SQL injection in the public search API of YesWiki, a widely used open-source wiki platform. Unauthenticated attackers can exploit this to steal sensitive data, including user password hashes, and disrupt service availability. This puts all Wiki users and the sensitive information they store at risk, and could lead to broader compromise.
If patching is delayed, disable the Bazar entries search API or restrict access to it via network controls (e.g., IP whitelisting, WAF rules blocking SQL injection patterns). Monitor database activity for anomalous queries and enforce least privilege on database accounts. No vendor patch identified at time of analysis; however, version 4.7.0 and 5.0.0-alpha4 are listed as fixed, so apply those upgrades as soon as possible.
