DescriptionCVE.org

The scriptPath parameter is incorporated into a /bin/sh -c command without sufficient neutralization of shell metacharacters, allowing shell command substitution and execution.

An authenticated user can exploit this behavior by creating a resource whose filename contains shell command substitution syntax, such as $(...), and subsequently supplying the resulting path to the Alert Script plugin's /test-send endpoint. When the alert script is executed, the shell interprets the injected command, resulting in arbitrary command execution with the privileges of the DolphinScheduler service process.

This issue affects Apache DolphinScheduler: before 3.4.3.

Users are recommended to upgrade to version 3.4.3, which fixes the issue.

AnalysisAI

Authenticated shell command injection in Apache DolphinScheduler (all versions before 3.4.3) lets a user with permission to create or upload resources execute arbitrary commands as the DolphinScheduler service account. An attacker names a resource using shell command-substitution syntax such as $(...), then passes the resulting path as the scriptPath parameter to the Alert Script plugin's /test-send endpoint; because that parameter is concatenated into a /bin/sh -c invocation without neutralization of shell metacharacters, the shell evaluates the injected command. …

Vulnerability AssessmentAI

Exploitation Requires an authenticated DolphinScheduler account with permission to create/upload resources and access the Alert Script plugin's /test-send endpoint. … Additional conditions and limiting factors are described in the full assessment.
Risk Assessment This is a genuine command-injection (CWE-78) flaw in Apache DolphinScheduler yielding arbitrary command execution as the service process, so technical impact is high (C/I/A all High). … Full risk analysis with EPSS, KEV, and SSVC signal comparison available after sign-in.
Exploit Scenario Full exploit scenario with step-by-step reproduction available after sign-in.
Remediation Upgrade to Apache DolphinScheduler 3.4.3, the release in which Apache states this issue is fixed, and follow the vendor advisory at https://lists.apache.org/thread.html/mwzbs5qdhs7nblfz70jgs0z54qx3phql for the official announcement; no backport is documented in the available data, so older 3.x branches should be migrated to 3.4.3 rather than patched in place. … Detailed patch versions, workarounds, and compensating controls in full report.

Threat intelligence, references, and detailed analysis are available after sign-in.
