| Exploitation Conditions | Requires an authenticated account with the Author role on a Bludit CMS instance at version 3.22.0 or earlier; the attacker submits a normal page content-save request to the Pages::edit() handler with extra reserved parameters (notably 'type' and 'username') that are not per-field authorized. No administrator access, user interaction, or non-default configuration is needed beyond the existence of a self-registered or provisioned Author account, which is the primary limiting factor - sites that do not grant Author-level access to untrusted users are not exposed. Impact is confined to page metadata integrity (site-wide static navigation manipulation, page ownership transfer); there is no confidentiality or availability impact and no remote code execution. |
| Impact | The provided CVSS 4.0 vector (AV:N/AC:L/AT:N/PR:L/UI:N/VC:N/VI:L/VA:N, score 5.3) describes an authenticated (PR:L, Author role), network-reachable, low-complexity flaw with integrity-only impact (VI:L) and no confidentiality or availability effect - consistent with the description of a mass-assignment privilege escalation. This is a real but bounded issue: it requires a valid Author account, so it is not a wormable or unauthenticated pre-auth vector, and its impact is limited to unauthorized modification of page metadata (making site-wide static navigation entries or reassigning page ownership) rather than code execution or data theft. No EPSS score, KEV listing, or SSVC decision data was supplied; one of the two references is a public gist (akinerkisa) that appears to contain exploit/PoC material, so publicly available exploit code likely exists, but this must NOT be conflated with active exploitation - there is no KEV confirmation. The 'Code Injection' tag conflicts with the actual weakness (CWE-915 mass assignment / privilege escalation); this is a labeling error, not a code-execution vulnerability. Overall this is a moderate, authenticated-user integrity issue in a niche CMS - a legitimate patch-worthy bug but not an emergency priority. |
| Exploit ScenarioDerived | An attacker who holds (or registers/obtains) a low-privilege Author account on a Bludit site edits one of their pages and appends reserved parameters such as 'type' or 'username' to the content-save POST request. Because Pages::edit() in bl-kernel/pages.class.php iterates every field in dbFields without per-field authorization, the injected values are accepted, letting the Author promote the page to a site-wide static navigation entry or transfer ownership to an arbitrary account. A public gist reference appears to provide proof-of-concept material for this request manipulation. |

Alert meAnalysisAIv1 – Sep 25, 2026
Mass assignment in Bludit CMS 3.22.0 and earlier lets an authenticated user holding the low-privileged Author role tamper with page metadata that should be reserved for administrators. Because Pages::edit() in bl-kernel/pages.class.php writes every field listed in dbFields without per-field authorization, an Author can slip extra parameters such as 'type' and 'username' into an ordinary content-save request to convert a page into a static, site-wide navigation entry or reassign ownership of a page to an arbitrary account. The issue only matters on installations that hand Author-level accounts to untrusted users; it yields integrity-only impact with no confidentiality or availability effect and no code execution, and no public exploit code or confirmed active exploitation was identified at time of analysis (CVE-2026-93364, reported by VulnCheck, CWE-915).
RemediationAI
No vendor-released patch was identified at time of analysis, so remediation must lean on the exact prerequisites of this flaw. The most reliable control is to stop provisioning Author-role accounts to untrusted or self-registered users, or to demote existing Author accounts you cannot vouch for, since Pages::edit() is only reachable once an authenticated Author session exists; the trade-off is that legitimate contributors lose the ability to create or edit pages until a fix ships. As an interim technical fix, apply a local code patch to bl-kernel/pages.class.php that strips or rejects reserved keys before the dbFields iteration - at minimum drop 'type' and 'username' from accepted input for non-admin roles, or replace the blanket loop with an explicit per-role allowlist; this must be re-applied after every Bludit upgrade and risks breaking legitimate administrative edits if the allowlist is too narrow. A front-end or proxy rule that rejects POST bodies containing 'type' or 'username' keys on the page-save endpoint offers protection without touching application code, but it will also block admins performing the same legitimate operations and is easily bypassed by parameter-name obfuscation unless the parsing is strict. Finally, monitor and reconcile page metadata: audit for pages silently converted into static navigation entries and for unexpected ownership changes, and verify that any transfer of page ownership is reversed, since the vulnerability provides no configuration or administrator interaction to detect on its own. Track the VulnCheck advisory at https://www.vulncheck.com/advisories/bludit-cms-mass-assignment-privilege-escalation-via-pages-edit for a vendor fix, and note that absence of a published patch at this time is not confirmation that none will be released.

Technical ContextAI · show details
Bludit is a flat-file PHP CMS that persists content in JSON/ database files rather than a relational database, so page objects are materialized directly from request input inside the kernel. The vulnerable path is the pages model in bl-kernel/pages.class.php, where Pages::edit() builds the saved page by iterating the class-level dbFields list and assigning each submitted key without consulting the caller's role or an allowlist of editable attributes. This is the classic CWE-915 (Improperly Controlled Modification of Dynamically-Determined Object Attributes) pattern: fields such as 'type' and 'username' are declared in the same schema as ordinary content fields, so the iteration treats privileged keys as user-controllable input. The listed CPE, cpe:2.3:a:bludit:bludit_cms:*:*:*:*:*:*:*:*, identifies the Bludit CMS product family, with the description bounding the affected build to 3.22.0 and earlier; the tags emphasize the PHP implementation and code-injection-adjacent nature of the flaw. The practical consequence is not memory corruption or command execution but a trust-boundary failure in authorization: any authenticated principal can reach the handler over the network, and the severity stems from the reserved-field semantics rather than from the parsing code itself.

DescriptionCVE.org
Bludit CMS through 3.22.0 contains a mass assignment vulnerability that allows authenticated users with the Author role to modify privileged page fields reserved for administrators by injecting reserved parameters into a content save request. Attackers can submit reserved fields such as type and username through the Pages::edit() function in bl-kernel/pages.class.php, which iterates all fields declared in dbFields without per-field authorization, enabling an Author to convert pages to static site-wide navigation entries or transfer page ownership to arbitrary accounts.
