Exploitation Conditions

Exploitation requires the victim to click an attacker-crafted link to the WuzhiCMS member login endpoint (/index.php?m=member&v=Login) with a manipulated forward parameter - this is the UI:P/user-interaction requirement and the primary limiting factor. No authentication is needed (PR:N) and it works remotely against default configurations of WuzhiCMS up to 4.1.0, since the only sanitization in place, remove_xss(), scrubs XSS keywords/entities but performs no URL/host allowlisting. The impact is limited to redirecting users to arbitrary external destinations (integrity-only); there is no code execution, data disclosure, or availability loss.

Impact

This is a genuinely low-priority issue despite a moderate-looking CVSS 4.0 score of 5.3. The vulnerability is an open redirect (CWE-601) in the WuzhiCMS member login flow where the forward parameter is only passed through remove_xss() - an XSS keyword/entity scrubber that does not validate URL destinations, so it fails to stop redirection to arbitrary external hosts. The vendor vector CVSS:4.0/AV:N/AC:L/AT:N/PR:N/UI:P/VC:N/VI:L/VA:N is internally consistent: network-reachable and unauthenticated (PR:N), but requiring victim interaction (UI:P) and yielding only limited integrity impact (VI:L) with zero confidentiality or availability impact - hallmarks of an open redirect used mainly to lend legitimacy to phishing links. Exploitation signals: POC/exploit code is publicly available (E:P in the vector and a published advisory), but there is no EPSS score provided, no CISA KEV listing, and no evidence of active exploitation - publicly available exploit code exists but must not be conflated with in-the-wild use. SSVC-style reading: exploitation is 'poc', technical impact is 'partial' at best, and while the delivery is technically automatable, an open redirect has no direct system compromise value. Net: a real but minor weakness, best treated as a low-severity hygiene fix rather than an emergency.

Exploit ScenarioDerived

An attacker crafts a URL to the WuzhiCMS login endpoint (/index.php?m=member&v=Login) with a malicious forward value pointing to an attacker-controlled site, then delivers it via phishing email or a malicious link so the trusted CMS domain appears in the URL. When the victim clicks and completes or bypasses login, the application redirects them to the attacker's page for credential harvesting or malware delivery. A public exploit/advisory (ArrestX VULN-021) already documents the technique.

AnalysisAIv1 – Sep 21, 2026

Open redirect in WuzhiCMS up to 4.1.0 lets remote attackers redirect users to arbitrary external websites by crafting a link to the member login endpoint (/index.php?m=member&v=Login) with a manipulated forward parameter. The attack requires no authentication and can be launched remotely, but it does require the victim to click the malicious link (UI:P). Publicly available exploit code exists; however, there is no evidence of confirmed active exploitation (CISA KEV) and the impact is limited to integrity (redirecting users), not code execution or data disclosure.

RemediationAI

No vendor-released patch has been identified at time of analysis; the vendor was contacted but did not respond. As a compensating control, validate and restrict the forward parameter to relative paths or an allowlist of trusted hosts, and reject any value containing a scheme (://) or protocol-relative prefix (//). This will block external redirects but may break legitimate cross-domain redirects if they were intended. Alternatively, remove or disable the forward parameter entirely. A WAF rule that blocks requests where the forward parameter includes an external domain can provide temporary mitigation at the cost of potential false positives. Monitor web server logs for forward values pointing to untrusted domains. If the vendor later releases a fix, upgrade WuzhiCMS to the patched version. Technical ContextAI · show details

The flaw is a CWE-601 open redirect in the PHP-based WuzhiCMS content management system. The member login component at /index.php?m=member&v=Login accepts a forward parameter that determines where users are sent after login, but the code performs only remove_xss() sanitization, which strips XSS keywords and HTML entities yet does no URL or host allowlisting. Consequently an attacker can supply an absolute or protocol-relative URL (e.g., //evil.example) to cause the application to issue a redirect to an arbitrary domain. The CPE string cpe:2.3:a:n/a:wuzhicms:*:*:*:*:*:*:*:* with version wildcard indicates all versions up to 4.1.0 may be affected. No authentication is needed (PR:N per CVSS vector), but the victim must interact with the crafted URL.

DescriptionCVE.org

A flaw has been found in WuzhiCMS up to 4.1.0. This affects an unknown function of the file /index.php?m=member&v=Login of the component Login. This manipulation of the argument forward causes open redirect. The attack can be initiated remotely. The exploit has been published and may be used. The only sanitization is remove_xss(), an XSS keyword/entity scrubber. The vendor was contacted early about this disclosure but did not respond in any way.
