| Impact | The CVSS 4.0 vector AV:N/AC:L/AT:N/PR:N/UI:N scores 6.9, reflecting network-accessible, zero-privilege exploitation with only low integrity impact (VI:L). This scoring is well-calibrated: the attack requires knowing an administrator's live stream key, which is a meaningful prerequisite - stream keys may be shared publicly in stream URLs or chat, but must be obtained through prior reconnaissance or disclosure. EPSS data is not provided in the input; no KEV listing exists and no public exploit code is referenced, so no public exploit has been identified at time of analysis. The practical impact is limited to injecting in-app or socket notification messages to a targeted admin - there is no code execution, data exfiltration, or availability impact. The vulnerability is real and exploitable under the right conditions, but the constrained blast radius and stream-key prerequisite keep real-world risk closer to medium than the CWE-306 class might imply at first glance. The absence of a patch is the most actionable concern for defenders. |
| Exploit ScenarioDerived | An attacker observes a public AVideo live stream and extracts the administrator's stream key from the stream URL or associated metadata. They then send a crafted HTTP GET or POST request to |

Alert meAnalysisAIv1 – Sep 12, 2026
Missing authentication in WWBN AVideo's Live plugin allows unauthenticated remote attackers to inject arbitrary socket notification messages to any administrator whose live stream key is known. The endpoint /plugin/Live/socketMessageLiveOwner.json.php validates that the stream *owner* holds admin privileges but performs no caller authentication (User::isLogged() is never invoked) and enforces no CSRF token, meaning the caller-identity check is entirely absent. No patch was available at time of publication; VulnCheck reported the issue against commit c3edcc274c389816d434acadac07ee78eaf330c1 and earlier.
RemediationAI
No vendor-released patch has been identified at time of analysis. As an immediate compensating control, administrators should disable the Live plugin entirely if live streaming is not required - this removes the vulnerable endpoint from the attack surface with no side effects on core AVideo functionality. If the Live plugin must remain active, restrict access to /plugin/Live/socketMessageLiveOwner.json.php at the web server or reverse-proxy layer (e.g., via Nginx location deny rules or Apache .htaccess restrictions), allowing requests only from trusted internal IP ranges; this trades some live-plugin functionality for reduced exposure. Additionally, treat live stream keys as high-sensitivity credentials: rotate them regularly, avoid publishing them publicly, and limit their distribution. Technical ContextAI · show details
AVideo is a self-hosted PHP video platform (cpe:2.3:a:wwbn:avideo) with an optional Live streaming plugin. The vulnerable file plugin/Live/socketMessageLiveOwner.json.php implements a server-side socket message dispatcher. It reads attacker-controlled key and msg parameters from the PHP superglobal $_REQUEST, calls LiveTransmition::keyExists to resolve the stream owner from the provided key, and then checks whether that resolved owner is an administrator - an authorization check on the wrong principal. CWE-306 (Missing Authentication for Critical Function) precisely describes this pattern: the function performs role verification without first establishing who the caller is. The absence of a CSRF token further means that even authenticated sessions cannot be used as a secondary gate via browser-based cross-origin restrictions.

DescriptionCVE.org
WWBN AVideo at commit c3edcc274c389816d434acadac07ee78eaf330c1 and earlier, with the Live plugin enabled, contains a missing authentication vulnerability in plugin/Live/socketMessageLiveOwner.json.php. The script reads the key and msg parameters from $_REQUEST, resolves the stream owner via LiveTransmition::keyExists, and verifies that the stream owner (not the caller) is an administrator; it performs no User::isLogged() check and enforces no CSRF token. As a result, an unauthenticated remote attacker who knows an administrator's Live stream key can call sendSocketSuccessMessageToUsers_id and deliver arbitrary in-app/socket notification messages to that administrator. The issue was unpatched at the time of publication.
